I dont think this movie is not a wasteful resource. In youtube comments section many boys/men mentioned that they started washing their plates after food.great.move atleast. They feel ashamed to leave the plate on the dining table for mom/wife/sis to pick up and wash. Some men commented if they need a second or third cup of tea they will get into kitchen and make instead of giving orders to woman of the house
@AppuMom So true! Many men started watching movie appreciating how good of DIL the heorine is then slowly being restless of how the other side of food on the table or made to order tea times actually look like! It is like people forget to appreciate the obvious.
That's nice. Positive change I also read some negative comments like What is the fuss about? Many women do the same work at home and have jobs outside as well. Women can't live without doing any work.
It was about movie. I think one has the liberty to have his or her view. I had just made an observation that “ negligible percentage” because I had befriended during my service a very large number of Keralite family friends in cosmopolitan surroundings. I could be wrong because I do not know the reality at present in rural areas in Kerala. If my comments are kind of a hurt, I am sorry.nothing intentional.
Thank you for this thread.. I watched this movie yesterday. Even though it went slow with repeated scenes of washing the plate and cleaning the table with chewed drumstick around, it had a good message. I could relate to many things in the movie. Like the periods stuff especially. My husband's house had a side door which was for his sisters to use because he was not supposed to see them when they were menstruating at the time when he n his dad had put mala to visit sabarimala. I could not accept this fact when he had shared with me many years back. Also I Myself fight a lot of patriarchal issues at home. Unfortunately it's a difficult battle if one chooses to fight.
I watched this movie after it was released on Prime. Though my situation is not as worst as the heroine, many of the things have happened with me also..as in general we are living in a patriarchal society in which women’s are expected to be submissive to gents and not to answer back to elders or stand up for themselves if they’re be wronged. Watching this movie made me realise the importance of financial independence and a good career for ladies. I was quite disturbed after watching it and do not have then inclination to watch it multiple times.
This is very painful. Yes, all of our houses still do this. if men are wearing mala to go to sabarimala, then they dont sleep with their wives and women who are on their period will have to stay in a different house. But I am not sure, if men will be ready to move to a different house and cook and clean for themselves if they want to go to sabarimala. They won't do it because, they can't do any fun stuff at that time. That's why.
