    Grand Parents!

The Very Term is soothing, and fills our heart with happiness. People say that a mom is born when a baby is born. Infact Its all pure biology and chemistry . No wonder! Grand Parents are born even well before that. Be it the baby's paternal or maternal grand parents, They start planning and doing things for the baby right from the day of conception.

They take care of the parents to be give them suggestions , the girls mom and MILs prepare sweets and other delicacies for her ,share her work and make her comfortable and happy all the time. Find out the best nutrition for her and the baby, Grand fathers to be start planning for toys for their grandchildren, toys from the family carpenter, jewel from the family goldsmith ( or plan for the jeweller and the ornament).

Plans are made for the girls baby shower day, pamper her with all good things so that the to be mom and the baby inside her are kept happy.

Once the baby is born, the part of the grand mom is more, she works physically, emotionally and mentally. Even before the mom reaches hospital for delivery she keeps every thing that would be required for her and the baby ready, inform the list of people on the good news, take care of the visitors for the baby, take care of timely food for the baby and newly delivered mother, Later going on takes care of giving the baby a massage and bath, prepare all traditonal medicines and take care of the baby.

She gets ready with new clothings for the baby, feeding the mom well sot hat she recovers from the delivery and hands her over to her family with the baby and the mother in a healthy and beautiful form!

The Paternal Grandmom starts getting busy once the DIL is back in home , she plans for and takes care of the baby;s weaning and food habits, daily schedule, prayers, teaching the baby good habits, Grandpa treaching slokas, tking the baby for morning and evening outings, Taking the baby to temples... teaching the kids on eating and cleaning habits, getting toys ( unlimited for the babies) enjoying their pranks, putting the babies to sleep.

Grandparents , with all their physical energy lost and mental energy boosted up on the news of the grandchildren, sacrifice and spend all the energy that they have stored in life time to run behind grandchildren , feed them, admire all small movements and sounds of the baby, bring up the traditional and moral values in them, give up their mind and heart for the little ones, enchanted by the love of the little ones, always being kind and gentle to them, save the kids from spanks, get them to school and get them off school, get them the freedom to eat more sweets, more of ice creams, also convince them to drink milk, have food, get new clothes for every festival, Plan every event in the baby;s life to be grand.

We always think that parents spend their life and energy for bringing up the children. But what grandparents do is beyond measure. They spend all the left over energy for this little ones and we always remain little ones irrespective of how ever old we are!

Children of this nuclear age are not lucky to have grand parents all of them! May be a couple of them would get to live with their grand parents. Also the grandparents do not get enough of respect inspite of all their soulful love and affection, children simply hurt their grandparents as they feel that all that their grandparents have taught them is out of fashion in this modern world and are simply illetrates compared to the technology age.

Be it whatever the age , whatever the treatment the grandchildren give, the love of the grandparents never wanes or vanishes.

Grand Parents are simply Grand parents! They are always great!

We, the modern age parents should inculcate the respect for grandparents in the hearts of our children, make them understand that cultural values and traditions make more sense than all the fancy of the newage lying in front of the eyes. We should try to get the grand parents for every child before the term vanishes from the dictionary of the modern families.

This post is a tribute to all the grand parents on earth!:bowdown

    Dear Sara

What a wonderful tribute to the grandparents. I agree with each and every word of your post. I think I am the first grandparent here to give you the first fb.

Though I could not see my children being pregnant and prepare everthing for the delivery and wait for the grandchild to come, atleast I was lucky to get my grandchildren as gift from God.

I am enjoy each and every moment with my grandchidren. Now a days grandparents are also modern but at the same time because of age they have to follow some things. I dont know how to put it.

Dear Sara I felt as if this is a tribute to us. The modern mothers want their children to be uptodate and disciplined so sometimes there is difference of opinion between the mothers and grandparents.

Now my grandchild wants my attention so will be back later

    love
    viji

    Dear Sara,
A very wonderful post which deals with the relationship ,now diminishing! I am the grand mother of four kids. H Happily I disclose here is that I am the one who took care of my very first grand kid ( my daughter's) , her second one and the grand kids of my DILs also. Both the mothersof my DILs are working ladies I gladly took out that job and to this day I am discharging it to my recently born GD.
To be a grandparent is not an easy job. Your grandchildren are counting on you to love them unconditionally to a degree that their parents may not be able to. They're counting on you to listen, really listen, without judging right or wrong. It is often assumed that you have no life of your own, and that you only exist to be called on when you are needed. This of course is not true. At the same time do not miss this opportunity that you have been given, a chance for a relationship with the next generation.
Grand parents are able to feel the innate love that is always reflected in their eyes. They are the ones who are responsible for passing on wisdom, values, and principles, from generation to generation, to help the youngsters lead a better and more fulfilling life.
    Grandchildren are God's helpmates
in charge of softening our hearts
and opening our eyes and ears'
to the simple sights and sounds
    that bring us joy.
    Grandparents are in charge of
    gentle loving and forgiveness,
    for persevering and strengthening
the heart connection in your family. I can recollect this poem only.
    with love
    pad

    Hi !

    That was GRAND !:thumbsup

Blessed are those who have had a lot of interaction with grandparents. I count myself fortunate that my Grandmother was so much a part of my growing up years.

I wish they'd have a "Grandparents Day" when we can show our love and respects to all grandparents in the world.

Very well said!! Really now when i am seeing my mom doing everything for my DD i can see how much she is enjoying and doing lot more than me.

National Grandparents Day is a secular holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Sunday after Labor Day and is celebrated in the United Kingdom on the first Sunday in October.

    Thanks for wonderful post!!:thumbsup

    dear SJ,

First of all I was very amused to see that our lovely and doting grandmas of IL had rushed with their fbs..so cute ! where is our dear paddu?:)

i completely agree with what you say.. they seem to have a special energy and enthu to pamper the grandkids..my dd is the first gd in our house and she is terribly pampered..they even go on trips whether i go with them or not..my father took voluntary retirement the year she was born and her first five years they have seen her almost on a daily basis.so still their love is mutual.
unfortunately my inlaws passed away before she was born so only one set of grandparents to dote on her. good post that all of us can relate to.:)

Many Thanks for the first feed back viji mam! :) I feel that whatever taught by grandparents according to traditions habitual and ethical is better than those ones invented for modern style kids.

Be it the "Urai madundhu" or the habit of visiting temple every day with grandparents , food and bath timings, its completely sticking to the biological clock unlike the modern age moms' schedule.

I do regret for breaking this biological schedule for my DD too. I try my best to pull my schedule to make a more sensible one - will have to wait and see as how much am able to succeed.

Thanks Once again for your compliments mam :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts PadMam! wow! really amazing that you had taken care of the delivery of your DILs as well. Lucky ones. Its a special and different feeling. The relationship between the MIL and DIL gets stronger to an un imaginable extent by being together during the delivery.

My mom had her MIL take car of her during her delivery and I grew up totally under my paternal grandparents - i was not lucky enough to have my maternal GF and maternal GMom was busy with her responsibilities and my Paternal Granddad wanted to take special care of my Mother as she was my Grandpa's first and favourite DIL.

    your poem is very beautiful!:)
I could still remember the love in my Granny's eyes and her ever smiling face.
She departed from us just 4 years before ; i have never heard her complain on me or any other grandkid! That i truly admire!

Thanks for dropping by and encouraging my thoughts mam! :)
