Director Bala received the national award for best direction from President Pratibha Patil for his film Naan Kadavul at the 56th National Film Awards ceremony held in New Delhi today. The awards evening was dominated by Bollywood, with the industry receiving a whopping 13 awards in various categories. Gautam Menon’s Vaaranam Aayiram also received the best feature film in regional languages award.

Veteran cinematographer V K Murthy, was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his lifetime achievement in the field. The award also comprised of a cash price of Rs 10 lakh, a Swarna Kamal and a shawl. Murthy is also the first cinematographer to receive the award.

 

Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra One is expected to go on floors on March 20th, 2010. Prior to its first schedule, the actor wanted to clarify on the title. Shah Rukh’s fans were a bit confused over the name Ra. One which is similar to Mani Ratnam’s Ravan. Clarifying on it, the King Khan says that both the films belong to a different genre. While Ravan will hit the screens during the mid-2010, Ra. One will make its appearance only during the fag end of the year.

Shah Rukh says Ra. One is a science fiction and superman-based subject. The film will have Kareena Kapoor playing the lead role. Wielding the megaphone for this venture is Anubhav Sinha.

Priyamani shared her experience about starring in the Ram Gopal Varma film Raktha Charithra. The national award winning actress says that she was initially scared of working in a Ram Gopal Varma film and wondered what it would be like. However, the first trip to Mumbai to complete the shooting changed all this perception, she adds.

Priyamani says that working with RGV was a wonderful experience and he was easy to deal with on the sets.

Looks like it’s not only you and me who want Gautam and Harris back together but there are others who nurture the same wish as well. Lyricist Thamarai, who had worked with Gautam and Harris revealed in a recent interview that she believed they will work together again as a team. Thamarai was asked whether she missed the times she worked with them.

Answering another question about Mani Ratnam’s invitation to write dialogues for his next movie, Thamarai said that she wouldn’t do anything other than writing lyrics for movies. Now that’s from the horse’s mouth for you.

Comedy actor Goundamani was a leading comedy actor in Tamil film industry. He was suffering from severe diabetics. For the last few days he was suffering from shoulder pain. At this point he was suffering from severe breathing problems.
Following this, he was admitted in the hospital. Doctors who reviewed his physical condition found out that he was suffering from a mild heart attack. He underwent full body check. After this the doctors decided to conduct a heart operation. Yesterday morning the operation took place at 7.30 a m.

The operation went up to 12 noon. He was brought out of the operation and he is being kept in the intensive care unit. The doctors stated that his operation was successful but he will be kept in the intensive care unit for few days and will be sent home after 15 days
