Rihana, i may be going off track here but couldnt help recollecting old times. My dad was very particular that he would get a match for me restricted strictly to a Govt. job., and it so happened finally after all the hunting (for nearly 3 years or so) my husband who was in Govt. service was caught! Come to think of it although i used to get irritated at the time, now when my husband says Govt. is paying me (he is getting more now as pension than his last salary drawn when he retired in 2009) for sitting at home and watching TV, i realise there was some truth behind their interest!
Btw I too was part of that #got pushed-but I don't like# club attending civil services classes. Appa did private coaching at home, whole paper would be red underlined for me to take notes...but something I hated all my heart was indian economy..Full of numbers n statistics..cha.. Cleared prelims but Pub ad and economy ditched me in mains..good it did
I thought this might not be the one to be in snippets and just saw that it is transferred to IL milestones
I had to read Competition Success Review.. that is for UPSC? Was watching Nil Battey Sannata yesterday. The uneducated but dedicated mom of 10th grade kid goes and meets Collector to ask about "you-pes..." exam
Ya ya..UPSC Only... I had a set of dedicated books..Indian polity, Indian economy, Geography, public administration(my main paper)..etc.. CSR & RD subscriptions were yearly paid from school days itself. Most of Saturday mornings were dedicated for CSR group reading. Amma will bring a big bowl of elaneer payasam for the big bunch, summer spl My elder sis, studious of the lot will question us at the end and reports are hush-hushed to daddy. RD was usually read before going to bed. we were 3 sisters, each one will get to hold the book for 2 days in a week. I like it at night, a good excuse to wind up and retire to room for RD reading
Hi Rihana, lovely Idea and great timing too...hats off Vitamin aunty... Interesting to read your responses.. Waiting for more...
