Good Elementary schools in Mecklenberg county, NC

Hello,
Coming to NC and in search for good schools which are welcoming, approachable teachers and use better teaching methods. Planning to stay in Mecklenburg county. Also, if anybody has ideas of the magnet schools and though the ideals look impressive is the magnet school concept really working and is it good to have grade 1 kid to be enrolled in magnet school.

If anybody can share their experiences and view, shall be thankful.

I just started looking for schools and would like to hear from anyone who has a child in a CMS school in North Charlotte, or any public magnet or charter school.
