The two best dermatologists in chennai are Dr. Thambiah and Dr. Patrick Yesudian. Both are said to have worked together. It is little difficult to see Dr. Thambiah as there are no prior appointments. You just have to go there and stand in a queue from 6 am onwards. Dr. Patrick Yesudian who has his clinic in Poonamallee High Road (please google for the address) is the next best. He is an aged gentleman who even touches the skin (which not many dermatologists do) and gives a very good diagnosis and treatment. Appointments are given on mondays for the whole week. You need to be in person to get an appointment. Fees is very reasonable. When it comes to a skin problem, it is best to go to the best doctor available in the city rather than to limit our choices area wise. I am not saying that all are bad..there are good doctors out there, but how do we know unless we get treated by them and burn our fingers? Rather than experimenting with unknown doctors, I would suggest you go to one of the two doctors above who have vast experience in the field. Even the Indian Academy of Dermatology considers them as #1 and #2 in the field of dermatology. Good Luck.
I know this answer is a bit late in the day but you could also try Dr. Priya Mohan in Mylapore. I have been to her for a consultation and would go back to her as she explains everything in a very open manner and her rates are reasonable. Her clinic also has an in-house dispensary from where you can get the medicines as well. She is located in the road next to HDFC Bank in Mylapore. Call 95661144700 to fix an appt with her and get directions as well while doing so.

Hi ladies, But tell me what purpose you guys need to meet dermatologist. There are lot of medicines used at home without even going to a dermatologist and some products which has only nature content (no animal content) no harm for any skin. Suitable to all kinds of skin. If you elaborate I can help you out. Dr. Thambiah is very good, but people above said to get an appointment, that to meet him we need to go and wait in the queue for almost 2-3 hrs before. RIP: Dermatology guru Dr A S Thambiah passes away in Chennai Thursday, May 12, 2011 Dr A S Thambiah, often considered as the father of dermatology practice in India, died in Chennai on Wednesday. He was 87. Dr Thambaiah was undergoing treatment for urinary tract infection and fever at K J Hospital, Chennai for a week. He did not respond to medicines and died at 7.18 am, doctors who treated him said. Born to a doctor couple, Dr A S Thambiah remained a bachelor. “He loved dermatology and was wedded to it,” says K Thiyagarajan, who practiced under the veteran for 18 years. Almost every day, Dr Thambaiah saw at least 100 patients. The consultation fee at his clinic never exceeded Rs 30 and for some, who could not afford even that, treatment was free.
