Re: Golden Mahalakshmi Temple Hi Dhivya, Even I will try to visit this temple during my next trip to India. I could find the following website after bit of googling. It's describes how to get there. Sri Mahalaksmi Golden Temple, Sripuram Golden Temple, Vellore Hope this helps. Cheers Parul
Re: Golden Mahalakshmi Temple Dear Dhivya, It's located in Vellore.Exactly 6 kms from Vellore. The name of the palce is called SRIPURAM.You can engage autos or cabs to reach there. Dear Sunkan, With your permission,i would like to share my experience of visitng theTemple: Once you reach SRIPURAM, there is a huge parking place for your vehicle at a cost of Rs.20/-. 1.You are not allowed to carry cameras, celphones inside the temple premises. 2.Seperate counters are put up for depositing ur footwear/cellphone and cameras. One may choose to leave them in their vehicle itself. 3.Big Queues/Cage(kind of structures) are erected just like thirupathi Balaji Temple as far as 3 kms from the original temple premises. 4.From this queue, you are allowed inside the SRICHAKRAM shaped corridor of the temple after vigorous scanning of any personal belongings+personal check by male and female security officers for men and women respectively. 5.Elders are allowed directly into the main Queue, but only along with their security personnel. We are not allowed to escort them. 6.After walking along the sprawling temple corridor in the shape of srichakra(nearly 2.5-3 kms), you will reach the main sanctum sanctorum of the Deity Lakshmi Narayani. 7.The entire temple is surrounded by beautiful lawns and architecture.Even the corridors are decorated in kerala style structures. It's worth watching and admiring them. Can't take fotos thoughbonk 8.You are allowed to have the dharshan of the Goddess Lakshmi Narayani from about a distance of 100 metres only.Beyond that line we need to pay Rs.250/- per head. 9.Bookings for abhisekam/arahdana/archanai needs to be done as early as 1-2 months in advance due to heavy rush on weekends. 10.As you walk out of the sanctum sanctorum, you will be given with kunkumam by the volunteers. 11.Prasadhams like pongal/Sakkarai pongal will be distributed at the exit. 12.There are shops/counters selling books/photos about the temple. 13.There is big hotel maintained by the temple authoroties and the lakshmi narayani swamigal-"Annapoorni"-i think, forgot the exact name sorry! 14.There is also a big hospital near by,which is also maintained by the trust. Note:- Please carry water bottle and a face towel. You are sure to get exhausted in the Queue and by walking. Any more Queries, please let me know.Hope this was a bit helpful.
