Hi Dubai ILites, My BIL is in Dubai now. He is coming back next week. I have asked him to buy ornaments for DD. What is gold rate in Dubai. Today it is Rs. 2950 in India. Please let me know if gold is cheaper or less costly in Dubai. Any custom duties involved? Thanks in advnace
Hi Visasri, I am not sure about the present gold rate in Dubai but all I know is if gold ornaments / coins / biscuits are brought from anywhere outside India and is packed in your luggage without declaring them, heavy custom duties would be applied.... Instead if you are buying gold ornaments, its better that the person who is travelling wears them rather than packing in the luggage...
visasri, i think the rate was around 200dhr/22ct. gold..and the exchang at 14.30 so it comes to around 2800.. there will be just a marginal difference, but the making charges are higher and the purity is better. but again as shruthi says the customs have become more vigilant and bringing ornaments is becoming more and more difficult unless you are wearing it.
