my gold fish lost a few scales a month back. Still no sign of regaining it. Will they get new scales? How long does it normally take to get new scales:disrelieved:

    Hi Siman,
Is this the first time? Change the water every week.Accumulation of the waste matter will pollute the water and cause infections. If the fish is taking its feed normally it should be Ok.Otherwise it means it has some infection. Please check with your Aquarium provider .There are special drops to put in the water every week to keep the water pure.

Thanks Paulina. All fish are happy & healthy, so are their appetites.Water conditions are normal. Only 2 of gold fish had lost few scales, however no sign of regaining new scales. It looks very odd, like a patch on the body of beautiful gold fish.

Check the pH of the water and make sure the tank is large enough. Sometimes goldfish injure each other if they are under stress.

And also check to see if there's any decoration in the tank that the fish could have tried to squeeze through. They could have lost scales that way.

    Good luck, @SIMAN!
