Who is the president of US of A? Wrong question. The real question is who rules America? And the answer is its arms manufacturers I

It is said that England is a nation of shopkeepers . That way Ameri9ca is a nation of armamedbnt makers and sellers.Just about anybody can get hold of heavy duty firearms and have a blast moqwing down anyone and schoolkids have often been at the receiving end of automatic weapons.

Despite repeated school massacres both by students and outsiders, nothing has been done to curb weapons falling into wrong hands, to checkl heavy duty automatic weapons used normally by armed forces being acquired by ordinary mJoes.

Any, disgruntled or demented teen can grab a weapon and initiate a bloodbath. After all it is a free sociedty. Whenever a massacre occurs, the administration sheds crocodile tears, wrings han ds and declares that time has come of checking acquisition of arms and stops at that. $Except for tokenisms nothing is done. Thwe powerful arms lobby headed by the National Rifles Association (NRAZ) ensures that. Schools, kids and decent citizens be damned.

President Joe Biden went through the same croc tears and hand wringing ritual and don't expect anything molre to happen. After all America is the land of the free and home of the brave., psychos free enough to acqauire guns and teachers and students brave enough to enter a school , not to speakj of parents brave enough not to keep their kids at home and educate them there.

AQmd believe me, these braves are braver than soldiers who face enemy bullets, for they know who the enemy is but these people don't evewn know that . It could be your fellow student or a teacher gone off the rocker or outsiders barging into the school raining bullets on unsuspecting people.

And nothing is going to change this believe me.Funds for both fdederal and ste police are being cut down. When it is everybody for himself and God for nobody, what other optionis left except going great guns?

Perhaps every school should have a signboard at the gate with the statutory warning: "STUDYING\TEACHING HERE COULD POSE A THREAT TO YOUR LIFE" .

OR MAYBE ALL KIDS MUST GO TO SCHOOL WEARING BULLET-PROOF ARMOR?

There is a reason politicians don’t act. These kind of incidents don’t happen at Harvard, they don’t happen at Yale. Mass shootings don’t happen at prestigious private schools where most of the politician’s kids are studying. If one of these mass shootings were to happen at the school were Ted Cruz’s daughters go, he would probably change his mind. Maybe those NRA checks are really hard to give up. So it doesn’t resonate, the death of the children, to those whose children are not in danger. I am seriously thinking to move out of this country.

There was a news report in which videos of past presidents from Clinton onwards were shown shedding tears and promising something must be done. They say there could be three reasons for such mass killings-mental problems of the killer, drugs, and easy availability of arms. They have yet to decide which one should be tackled first. They say banning anything gives rise to backdoor businesses, which neither helps the Government nor the society. They never say, we need their money.
The same chicken and egg dilemma.

The president of the United States does not make gun legislation. That is the job of Congress. The Republican Party is opposed to any form of gun control because their base will vote them out of office if they do.
So this cycle will keep repeating.

Craven politicians are more interested in clinging to power than acting in the best interests of their constituents. A story as old as time. A pox on all of them.

Isn't it ironic that a country that is trying to be the global policeman can't even police its own territory.?

Irony and double standards are the currency of politicians everywhere. However a country like the US which is founded on 2-party rule and the electoral college disproportionately gives power to the minority. As long as this is the case there will be no meaningful gun reform.
