:hello:God would be really happy, only if all his creations including the downtrodden are well taken care of by well to do and not so well to do. The spirit of the poem is that to serve the poor and impoverished and indigents with pure mind and golden heart without any expectations or rewards or reciprocation. ( instead of wasting time energy and materials on ostentation in the name of religious rituals at temples)

The poem posted above though attributed to Gurudev surfaced up during the time when leftist and communist maoists masqueraded as self styled liberals in West Bengal at the beginning of twentieth century to extinguish the Hinduism. It was time when Sri Arubindo, swami Vivekananda and Tagore were exhorting people in many ways to unite against British imperialism colonialism.

In collection of Tagore poems including the Nobel winning English translation of Gitanjili the poem could not be found - avers experts. Originally written in Bengali, the poems later translated to English that won Nobel for Gurudev.

It was in vogue, that Spurious stuff were passed off in the name of celebrities even before the era of internet to make the creation credible and gain popularity.

I totally agree Thyagarajan. Nature balances itself with a cyclic passage for everything including this topic.

All said and done, just consider this...with all beliefs associated with religion, places of worship etc., etc., how many scores of people or rather families are dependent upon marketing/selling these things as the sole source of livelihood and the impact on the economy of a place , be it rural or metro. One has to be content and comfortable with oneself before thinking about others. The ceiling for comfort or contentment of comfort is a different question altogether though..in the current scenario.
