    O,numerology! It is great that numerology helped you to get the definition of'Radio Activity' by heart and get into the good books of the professor.
    We had specimens( sorry for the remark) at home.My husband's cousin had so much obsession for numerology.
    He had timings for holding the girl's hand for the first time during 'oonjal' celebration on his wedding day.His Guru had fixed the timing as 2.50 A. M.
    You know, in Tamil Iyer weddings there are other formalities as kasi yathirai,maalai maatru,oonchal etc etc before the bride and bridegroom catch hold of their hands.The preparation stated at 1 A. M. midnight.The sastris had serious objection of doing these rituals at midnight( the time when ghosts used to 'sanchaar')Even for mangalya Dharanam he had his own timings and persuaded the pundits accordingly.
    They came to chennai to commence family life.The Guru had advised to have a house with number 23 or 32 for rent.In those days there were no flats. Ultimately they had a house in a slum area in West mambalam with 32 as the number.The house was big but haunted by mosquitoes and rowdy elements.The girl had to tolerate.
    When they built their own house in Madurai, they somehow bribed Municipal officials to have their choice.Naming of children also followed strict numerological procedure.
    In spite of strict adherence to numerology he was involved in some offence and got dismissed.Then he started his own business,went to Ranchi .However his life was not peaceful.His wife died of eye cancer and he also passed away at the age of 55 due to a very small injury in his leg.The last 5 years of their life were marked by so many bad events and health problems.His wife suffered a lot because of his blind faith.The number of the train, berth number,seat in the cinema hall, hall ticket number mattered a lot to him.We felt uneasy whenever he visited us and urged to begin lunch exactly at the stroke of some minute.
    Human beings are susceptible to certain beliefs, I agree.But too much obsession leads to undesirable consequences.

    :hello:Thopukaranam (T) is an inalienable part of every devout Hindu before commencing anything including baby steps to attain short and long goals. in some other thread another senior IL'ite had discussed the positives of T besides invoking Lord Ganesha's blessings. It did good to even Olympic Boxers:boxing:. Thanks for feedback and Regards. God Bless Us All.

    @Thyagarajan
    Yes, of course sir. I know about the positive effects of Thopukaranam.

    My response was lighthearted self-depreciating humor. I hope you did not take my statement literally.

    The post reminds me of the movie '3 Idiots' . Rote learning can be funny also. Long back, I heard a village second grade kid reading loudly from a book. The room was pitch dark. His parents were uneducated and probably thouhgt how it is done. I asked the kid to show me the book and asked his mother to lit the lantern. I opened a page from the book at random and asked him to read. He could not read a single word.
    In the school the teacher would read and the kids would repeat after him.

    The joy of fooling a teacher is immense. I remember the school principal taking class when I was in the 3rd standard. She was extremely strict and known to beat children mercilessly with a ruler. I have been a victim too. One day I decided to aggravate her. I started chewing on some imaginary food inside my mouth. She caught me and asked what I had inside my mouth. I said nothing. She did not believe me. She asked me to come and open my mouth. I did and my mouth was clean and there was not even a speck of anything inside. I got an immense joy in having fooled her. Your story of the Kumudam cover on the book reminded me of that. :)

    Dear Sir,

    You made my day. I was struggling with this image processing problem for weeks. Now I know how to solve, I am going to wake up at 1AM to solve this. It made me thinking, numerology is being so kind to mothers who are studying, isn't it a perfect time while kids are on bed and the mothers can study. But one thing is missing is the numerology hasn't consulted with the person responsible for sleep. People need to sleep as well, right?

    It was so common in our uni days, girls will go to lectures so regularly, boys will sit under the trees, copy the tutorials from the batch mates and then they will graduate with classes. Of course you are not in that category, I admire your discipline even under the name of the numerology.

    Thank you sir, you made me laugh.
