Look for "Gems Shows". Happens all over USA. Pearl Strands at NJ is a famous indian store for gems precious & semi-precious.

On the other hand, I would recommend any jewel with CZ stones (other than ear-rings) to match her to-be-bought diamond ear-rings.

Sounds like your mil is traditional type. Probably she would prefer to get the diamond jewels made by her preferred or trusted jeweler back in India. So dont do jewelry. Instead since she is traditional, get a nice saree, from one of the good ( well known in India shops with branches here) shops. do you have a Nalli's in your town? It will be a nice gesture and one she will appreciate also. Another option is to get a really good quality coat/front open cardigan that she can wear in india over Indian clothes.

You're absolutely right. She is very traditional. We already bought a nice winter coat for her. And she loves it. Looks like we will go with traditional root of gifting jewels.

Hi op,

You get good quality pearl in US.The designs are also so unique.Or your could go for good crystal wear.The crystals available in Us has really nice cut.They more or less look like diamond.
