    Hi All

    My nephew's upanayam is next week...he is 9 years old...i am looking for some gifts that i could give him on this occasion....
    my budget is max Rs4000...
    i dont want to give silver Panchapatram as many would give the same...
    any other useful gifts

    Please suggest....

    Hai Swaran,
    U can get him a watch. I gift watch to my cousin for his upanayanam.
    Since he is 9, i dont know whether he will be interested in watch or not.
    You can also gift a ring which is available for around 4000 in GRT

    watch good option...i ll keep in my mind...
    gold..donno about this size because i would reach directly on the day of function and cant go for last minute shopping

    I gifted for my friends son's poonal. but not for him. for the entire family. I gifted Kothandaramar (with lakshman seetha and anjees) in silver as ramar is their kula dheivam. it costed for me 4500/- last march.

    What about payig for his computer classes or something like that. Or you cna open a savings account in his name for his college.

    Giving gold or silver may be valuable in few years, but it will be nice to start saving for his future too.

    coffeelover's suggestions really make sense - very practical. one more suggestion is a gift coupon from a book store, so that they can buy whatever books he likes to read and has not already read.

    Since he is just 9 ,get him a sports model bicycle.

    You can also gift him some classes of his interest.(Pay the courses fee )
