Diet Smoothy - no milk, no curd!

    The photos are self-explanatory! :)
Wheat germ can be replaced by flaxseed powder or bran.

    Brain Booster

This is a recipe of Tarla Dalal, which I have slightly changed.
    I used the centrifugal juicer.
    BUT,
if you do not have the same, grate all vegetables, add little water, liquidise & strain.
    Serve over crushed ice.

This juice is perfect for the times when one needs to concentrate. This will help keep the mental faculties in top gear!

    Iced Coffee - from scratch!

Now, in market, varieties of iced coffee mix are available. But my recipe is from scratch & it came out great & unbelievably tasty & with fizz!
You can use decoction from coffee powder using filter or instant coffee powder like Bru or Nescafe.
Make the decotion VERY STRONG . This is because on chilling, the taste gets diluted.
Add to it sugar syrup made thus:
    Boil together
    1 cup of sugar +
    1/2 cup water
stirring till it boils & then boiling steadily for 5 mts.
Add the syrup to the decoction, cool completely & freeze like ice cubes.
These cubes must taste strong of decction as well as sugar, to prevent a diluted taste.
For iced coffee, blend these ice cubes wiith crushed ice and serve with fizz. The strength is to individual taste.

    Cold Coffee - from scratch!

This is similar to iced coffee except that frozen milk cubes are added along with frzen coffee cubes. Crushed ice cubes can be added optionally.

Cold Mocha - lovely coffee-cocoa combo!

    Blend together
frozen coffee cubes+frozen milk cubes+crushed ice cubes + chocolate syrup + brown sugar.
The strength & proportion varies with individual taste. Chilled coffee decoction & milk can also be used, but, the frozen cubes give an "exaggerated" fizz like the one given in coffee shops. A scoop of coffee or chocolate or vanilla ice cream can be added when you make it for as party.

Iced Lemon-Dry Ginger Tea - to beat the heat!!

I use tea bags and specially green tea bags. Green tea is becoming very popular; but is (according to me) insipid if we drink it hot. It is very enjoyable, when chilled. You can add sugar or artificial sweetener.
It is said to be helpful to prevent cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cariovascular diseases and infections. It is a powerful anti-oxidant as well.
For 4 cups of tea, use 4 tea bags.
Boil 2 cups of water with crushed dry ginger or ginger powder.
When it starts boiling, switch off, add tea bags & keep covered for 15 mts.
Strain, but do not squeeze the tea bags. Add 2 more cups of water.
Add lime juice & sugar to taste.
I usually keep a sugar syrup ready by boiling 1 cup of sugar+ 1/2 cup of water for 3-4 mtes & straining.
Chilled tea can be kept in the fridge for 2 days. Take a cup, liquidise (to get a fizz) with crushed ice cubes.
Instead of dry ginger, you can add tea masala.
Any variation of your choice can be tried!

    Iced Mint Ginger Lemon Tea

This can be made with regular tea or green tea. The procedure is the same as above.
If you have home-grown Tulsi leaves, substitute in place of ginger.
