"Three years! Three long years of search has finally been successful!", said the Intelligence Bureau Chief X. They had nailed down Y, the topmost spy of their enemy country. Y had been the prime reason for the failures of X's country's attempts all along. Somehow his name was always linked to them and yes, he had a part in them. X himself had been hailed as a genius and his ways of interrogation had been spoken in hushed voices by the select few who had been 'helping' him then.

He was quoted as being able to take even an invisible nerve out of the stone. And he was the one who figured out that Y was the man responsible for their defeats. He had enormous power and funds and made use of them in nailing Y, who went underground. But after 3 years, they got him in an abandoned godown near their capital city. He appeared to be a bit bewildered then. But X was confident of his capacity and methods. Three months it took for him to elicit all the information from X. Not all had been useful to them, yet some were vital - like who helped Y within their own country and why, where were the weapons kept in Y's country and who was the incharge and so on. X was ecstatic then and wanted to act all at once. But his experience and commonsense suggested him to be patient. One by one, he cornered and eliminated those who were within his country, but helped Y. Then he spoke to his masters and tried targeting just one weapons base in Y's country, close to the border between them.

He released Y too, which left a few eyebrows up, but they also pitied Y. Y was now a babbling, incoherent, broken man. Soon Y was in safe custody and hospitalized, but there were no immediate hope for his mental recovery. X was then anxious, awaiting the success news when he received that shocker. There was no weapons base there in Y's country there and all X's men were rounded up and shot. Now X's country faced a great enquiry by other countries and their own patrons. X was arrested, branded as a traitor and was facing a commission. He knew that his end was near. An aide who was assisting Y, read the news and felt jubilant and sad at the same moment. "Genius!", he said, looking at Y who was lost.

He reminisced the days when Y had forced to implant all dubious information in his head after erasing the right ones.
