how to make Kuzhi Paniyaram easily?

While doing the Arupadai Veedu trip last year, we happened to taste Kuzhi Paniyaram and the taste was very much relished then that the very thought of it is making my mouth water.

Is there any easy way to make this item?

Re: how can we eat vegetabel salad?

    Hi Sudhira
Why don't you make a dressing out of buttermilk or thinned yoghurt (lassi consistency) and put in some raita masala, a little lime juice, salt? You can also do a vinagrette but taking some vinegar (if you use a mild vinegar like rice wine vinegar it is less sharp) and slowly beat in salad oil (healthwise olive oil is the best but if you don't like it use something else....sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and you can put in any spices that you like...jeera would be good or chilli powder for pow, some minced raw onion, garlic if you like, etc.

    A fav salad of mine:
    raw baby spinach leaves
    thinly sliced raw red onion
    freshly toasted pumpkin seeds
fresh goat cheese (the kind in the little logs NOT feta) (about 1 ounce per person) crumbled

    the dressing:
1 big spoon jam (I used black currant but you can use orange or maybe raspberry)
    1 big spoon dijon mustard
    mix those two
add about 3 spoons balsamic or other salad vinegar
drizzle in olive oil while beating until you like the consistency

    serve over the spinach salad

Indian friends here raved about it. Hope you enjoy.

    Dear tashidelek,

The salad suggestion and more than that, the dressing tip is simply great. I already know that it will be a hit in my family.
    Thanks for both!

Re: how to make Kuzhi Paniyaram easily?

    Hi Amoha,
I usually use Dosa batter to make the Kuzhi Paniyaram. You get the mould in the shops; use non-stick mould. Add finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chillies to the batter and pour in mould after greasing them. Cover and cook for 3 to 5 minutes and the Paniyaram is ready to be served.

    Optional : Grated carrot.

Hello..there..Question on Cooking (Indian) Cananyone answer please?

I am a new member joined here recently. One of my friend suggested to join here as a member as this is a informative website.
When I joined this group, I thought it would be a good idea to ask one of my question related to Cooking..

I got a packet of Moongh Dhaal (Yellow split moongh). When I cooked I found that to be giving a strange oily smell..I think it is becoz of the nature of the pulse. Just curious if anyone of you have experienced this earlier..

    Looking fwd a reply..

    HI veena...
    welcome to IL
sometimes this happens coz packing problem or i'm not aware... but to avoid this smell add little haldi & hing while cooking.. if you dont have hing you can even add garlic while cooking.. then do the normal gravy which you want..

    Hello Veena,

I too have had problems with the dhals i buy. The local shops here sell stuff that are old. I would take the remaining dhal back and ask for replacement. Try it.
