Once we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, we believe that all our hurdles are removed. He is a god with a friendly countenance and a carefree nature. He enjoys good food but is equally content with simple puffed rice as he is with rich modaks. Though not fitness-conscious himself, he encourages people to become fit by sitting under the peepal tree and making them walk around him 108 times.

Ganesha comes in various sizes—small enough to fit on a ring or as grand as the Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai. He isn't particular about his abode and resides with equal comfort on a street corner or in the grand Siddhivinayaka Temple. He is accessible to all, regardless of status or wealth.

Known for his cleverness, Ganesha once won a coveted fruit in a competition by going around his parents three times, while poor Karthikeya circled the world on his peacock. This story highlights his ability to think outside the box, combined with devotion. Though Ganesha is unmarried, people whose marriages are delayed often pray to him under the peepal tree.

Nothing escapes his attention, as he is omnipresent, often represented by a turmeric powder idol in various rituals. He is fond of children, who, over time, have come to see him as their friend. In my second childhood, I too believe that he is my friend.

    Dear @sln sir,
I am glad that my article inspired you and you
plunged with alacrity to write one one for Lord Ganesha.
I enjoyed reading and it transported me to the days in then Bomabay when I used to visit with family at lalbagh byculla to watch huge idols of Ganesha carried in trucks in long slow moving procession with associated hullabaloo.

Lord Ganesha is simple. He is happy even if He is Installed in narrow Gallies. You had mentioned about His simplicity by citing the tiny pyramid that is formed with wet turmeric powder during performing any pooja. We pray pooja to conclude without any hurdles. We make it a point to break a coconut into smithereens at nearby Vinayak temple every time we wrote some annual exam or conduct marriage and other such occasions.
He remains simple: and worshipping Him too is simple without much rigmarole. In the olden days it was only clay idol which after pooja, we used to sink the clay idol in a deep well at our back yard.
I used to make weekly visit every tuesday early morning to siddhi Vinayak temple in Prabha Devi near Dadar BB.
I recalled an anecdote in the narration in link below the tussle between Vinayak & the Moon.
