Learned something fascinating today. I suppose folks who followed the decriminalization of homosexuality in India must be familiar with these ladies but I've just heard of them and I'm in awe.

Menaka Guruswamy and Arundhati Katju ’17 LL.M., two Indian public-interest litigators at Columbia Law School, were the prime architects of the campaign to rid India of section 377. They argued the case against the law in front of the Indian Supreme Court. Two incredibly accomplished women who are also a couple in real life. There is something so powerful and heartwarming about this picture!

    Yep, following them on SM.

I know, progressive for a conservative and patriarchy society as ours. To them. :beer-toast1:

    Now, some questions.

    Question 1:
Oct17 was #PronounsDay. The Internet was divided as usual on the number of acceptable genders. You know my stand, I accept third gender and nonbinary (I'm not sure about "theybies" though!). But I don't get why cis-genders should use any pronouns at all to identify themselves? As if we can't know seeing their biology make up? Including Elizabeth Warren on SM, who identifies herself as "She/Her". What's the point? o_O (Is it like that trend: straights coming out as...well, "straight"?)

Question 2: .....After a commercial break! BRB. :wink1:

maybe to give room for no assumptions or to let the world know their support
one could be very well deceived if one just goes by biology make up. It’s become a common practice to use pronouns these days in official email signatures. A part of diversity culture

I had in mind the case of cis genders using pronouns but true, we could still end up misgendering others going by our assumptions. Better we introduce ourselves with pronouns I guess, makes sense why everyone would have it mentioned in bios and signatures. Beyond conveying our openness and solidarity with trans and non-binary community, helps to normalize the usage of pronouns and the practice of presenting each others' less awkward. A small, polite gesture but could bring a lot of difference in our mindsets towards being more inclusive. Neat! I get now, thank you. :beer-toast1:
