Hey All So Motorola decided to not upgrade my phone over from Gingerbread. Gingerbread was actually crashing or making my Atrix 4G unresponsive. I was getting really annoyed and the only way out was to buy a new phone :rant I looked to Cyanogenmod for rescue. Cyanogenmod is a custom ROM, with which we can install any available version of Android, the latest is Jellybean. If you have not used vanilla or plain Android, trust me you are missing something. To give you a 30000 feet perspective about what it takes to get your phone from a carrier provided ROM such as Froyo/GB to CyanogenMod's Ice Cream Sandwich or Jellybean is as follows: 1. Root the phone 2. Unlock bootloader ROM 3. Install Clockwork Recovery Image 4. Wipe the phone data 5. Install the new ROM 6. Install GPS radios according to the region you are in 7. Enjoy the new phone We run the risk of losing warranty as well as the risk of bricking the phone. I was willing to take the bait because I was frustrated enough to get a new phone if something bad happened. But the effort totally paid off, the phone is better performing than old version (Gingerbread GB), the graphics are spectacular and I get to try new apps that were not supported with GB. Just wanted to plant this idea in your mind.
