Oh ya, touch wood!! I haven't had any problems yet. I mostly end up washing the cups and blades in DW.

For grinding idli/dosa batter? I don't think FP is a good choice for idli batter. I use FP for finely chopping carrots, cabbage, onions, beans, beets, ginger-garlic and even mushrooms.. Its good for atta kneading and you can coarsely chop coconut. I grind toor dal in FP for dal vadas (parippu vada).

I got it in 2000. At that time didn't know of sale and coupons. So it seems costly now. I also make poli's outer dough with less oil. I use to make the kola's for kola urundai kulambhu. One of my friend bought around thanksgiving for 60-70$.

Anitha, for $50 range, you can only find Hamilton Beach or Black & decker.

Cuisinart and Kitchen aid are very expensive and they come somewhere close to $100 only.

yeah that was offered during TG I guess but it's $60 + tax too ...somewhere close to $70 would be the total cost. just check if the store if offering any cash back like if you buy for $50 then $10 off.
