I was about to throw away my 20-year old olive cargo denim pants when I thought, "Can't I turn this into a bottom for Kurti set?"

I trimmed the pants, but when I do rolling hem on sewing machine, it seems the fabric is too thick. I had to chop off the pants some more.

Now I am frustrated. If I do rolling hem by machine, it gets stuck because fabric is too think.

Should I do pico by hand? This is my last chance. If I mess up, it goes into rag department.

But the fabric and color is so good. I cannot find anything comparable nowadays.

    Bummer!!!!

only pics will help the posters to be able to suggest.
We need to know how your pants are and what exactly you plan to do.
it is olive and cargo and denim confused me.

Just FYI, denim needs thicker needles and if sewing layers, go with denim needles. Also, many machines can not handle thicker fabrics.
If you taking up (for denim), cut up rather than folding to avoid bulk and ease of sewing.

You said rolling hem, that should be okay with thicker/denim needle.

In US, there are tailors(dry cleaners usually) that do minor alterations like hemming up for like 20$ or less so if too hard, find local tailor.

    I'll try to get pics.

When I tried to repair, I think I damaged it :-(

Now it is coming above my ankles. Is there a way to increase length of pants?

you need to look for youtube videos on how to repurpose clothes. You will be amazed at the content. I have hoarding lot of old clothes thinking i will repurpose them some day but not able to reach that point and run out of ideas.
May be add cuff at the bottom to add length.
