Flu shots for kids

    Hi ilites..
    Is it necessary to give flushots to kids?My kid is 4 1/2 and its been 9 months since we came here..His ped advised to give 2 course of flushots..He was given the first..does he need another course too? My friend says that its absolutely necessary to give the shots..

    Pls post u'r suggestions

    Hi Ramya,

    If your ped says so,then you should definately do it.Every country has its own ways and I think that you should follow it if you live there.
    How long do u live there?

    flu shots are generally recommended - some peds still leave the option to parents. However, if you have given the first set, I understand it is necessary to give the booster shots with in the month of the first shots. If it's too late, not a problem and nothing to worry - it is as good as not giving a shot ( the first shot will not have effect by itself I guess). Also finally always speak with ped for all your doubts.

    We moved to the US last year...I checked with the ped and she recommended to have the second course tooo..

    Flu shot when given the first time, is done in two shots. The second (booster) shot is given sometime after 6-8 weeks the first one. This is just for the first time. The year after just once. HTH.
