    Hi,
    Anyone had their flu shot this year? I see some news that flu shots are available. But I am little hesitant if we should get flu shot in this pandemic.I wanted to ask my doctor about it. I didn't get the flu shot for my kid too. I wanted to know if anyone had flu shot. Did your doctor recommend it?

    Just scheduled an appointment at our local drugstore. We take it every year. If the timing coincides with a visit to the doctor, we get it there, else at the drugstore.

    I didn't check with my doctor. Did some googling and decided to go for it this year too.

    Last weekend, driving by Costco, I saw a sign that seemed to say that their flu shot lasts longer. :confundio1:

    Each year the developing of the vaccine for the oncoming influenza season happens several months ahead of time, so that it is ready in Autumn. Vaccines are created to work against the most likely strains of the influenza that are expected.

    I have heard of Trivalent and Quadrivalent vaccines, four is better than three. Apparently this difference indicates how many different strains of influenza viruses the vaccine would protect the person against. These names remind me of the number of blades in a razor -- twin blade, triple, quadruple, etc...as to which would give you the best result. Getting some flu shot is better than getting none.

    It takes about two weeks for the flushot to induce antibodies formation within the person who got injected. There is no protection against the flu as soon as the shot goes in. How long those AB's last might depend on both the AB's and the person. This is pretty complicated to be useful to consumer level decisions on which shot to get.

    Everybody should get it. Especially children and old people.

    Last week. My university sets up fly shots clinic all over the campus so we usually go to the nearest one to us and take the kids with us too.
