Fire safety at home and in kitchen

Hi Ladies,

We spend so much of our time in kitchen working on gas/electric stoves. Have you ever faced a fire accident and how did you respond to it.

I faced one today and totally shaken up.

Here is what happened.

I was doing tadka and on the side was doing some cutting.. Suddenly i smelt something different and when i saw the oil the vessel was on fire. I didn't know how to react. I took it off the stove and put in in sink and turned on the tap water.. The flames came up soo high, i thought the house was on fire,. but thankfully it died down.. For a moment i thought the house was going to catch fire. The flames rose up so high.

I wasnt sure if that was the right thing to be done. Please pour in your experiences and opinion..

Also share some tips on how to stay safe without these accidents at home.
