Dear All Do I hear a sigh of resignation implying ‘He is here again’? Not to worry! This is purely a temporary arrangement as Satchi is in Poona attending an important family function. When she asked me if I could handle the usual ritual this month, I had difficulty in concealing my excitement. A few years back I would have attempted a jig like Fred Astaire in celebration but now I can do that jig only mentally! By the way, it has become my habit to quote ‘All are equal but some are more equal than others’ when selecting the Winners of FP. It is my commitment to George Orwell who authored this famous sentence in his book 1984! And by the way again, in announcing the Winners for August, I have been guided substantially by Swathi. It does not mean that I have no clue about the posts nominated by our able nominators. I too did go through them all and agreed with Swathi’s selection. Swathi had explained to you the rationale behind the selection of Winners last month and I do not need to repeat it. She has said that in the process of selecting the July winners, she had subjected her head to considerable scratching, but I can’t even do that. My head is not scratch proof anymore and even at the gentle tickling with my nail, it turns bloody! So I do not intend to make any further ado in announcing the Winners for August 2017. So here we have the Finest Narration Award going to SCSusila for The Someday that Never Came This is a narrative about Susila’s oldest sister-in-law. She never had it easy. She had dreams that always remained evasive and now way beyond 60, she has hopes of realizing her dreams only in her next birth! However, the absence of bitterness and the cheer with which she has accepted life are something worth emulating. And the Finest Contribution Award goes to Satlak for her Stories behind Tamil Proverbs - Post 4 Satlak is a fairly new member who has given the meaning of various proverbs supported by illustrative stories. My hearty congratulations to both Winners! I also congratulate iyerviji, LakshmiKMBhat, teenulahiri and kkrish for spotting the winners! Your FP Team
