Dear All
You all know how difficult it is to live up to one’s name. My own name implies that I am the permanent abode of Goddess Lakshmi but I have turned out to be just a transit station for her in between her journeys to Azim Premji and the Ambhanis ! A friend of mine who has been so lovingly named Arogyasamy by his parents can be mostly seen in a Doctor’s clinic waiting for his turn to be called in. I can reel out a number of examples but that’s not my purpose here.

I am going to tell you about a refreshingly different case now! Yes, the month of August it is. This dear month has indeed made us feel its august presence in the FP Forum. As you all know, we have been rather worried about the dwindling number of nominations for the last few months. But in August, the nominations picked up dramatically and with some classy nominations as well. It is now time to say adieu to August. And make way for September. I do hope August will leave word with its successor like an outgoing batsman leaving word with the incoming player about what is to be done to maintain the momentum.

I have a lot to tell you extolling the virtues of September but anyone who has as much access to Google as me will know all that! But the most relevant point here is that I understand that schools open in September all over the world. This means that the young mothers of IL will have a bit more time in their hands to pursue their creative dreams of eventually winning the Booker Prize by honing their writing skills first in the testing ground of IL. This again means more awesome threads making their way into all the Forums of IL and more activity for the nominating hawks!

Let’s get ready to keep our eyes and senses tuned to the best of the month. Ladies and gentlemen, nominations for September 2014 are now open! We shall await your nominations as we keep chewing at our tense nails!
Your FP Team
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please do Note that posts and threads from the sub-forums Express Cafe, Forward Messages & Jokes, Online Games & Puzzles are not eligible for nomination.

To familiarize yourselves with FP and its nominating process, please checkthis link below: Finest Posts of IL

This ensures that each of us have a hand in deciding the winning post as we will filter our choice more closely, thus making the winner more significant.

The nominations will be closed on the 26th of every month. Simultaneously, the nomination thread for the following month will be opened.

In case of nominating FBs, please remember to add a link to the FB and not to the original post.

The following gives step-wise on adding links to your nominations –

Dear Balajee
Thank you for opening the FP account for September with the nomination of Viswa's http://www.indusladies.com/forums/snippets-of-life-non-fiction/259388-rays-of-hope.html

This was nominated by EverHappy in the just concluded August FP Nominations. There is technically no hitch in nominating a thread again. For your kind information, this is what I wrote in response to EverHappy's nomination:
'A couple of years back, I had gone to Srilanka with a few friends to attend a meeting. The moment we were lodged in our designated hotel, some friends went in search of the bar, somein search of massage parlours, some in search of casinos which Lanka is famous for and a few stayed back in the rooms to prepare for the meetings. Though we were all bound by one mission, each one tried to pursue what he was most interested in!

Viswa has a beautiful mind. For him even a dental camp can be a spiritual retreat where he tries to look for avenues to enrich his soul. This comes through so beautifully in his Rays of hope'

I fully agree with you that if everyone on planet Earth realises Viswa's message, it would end all conflicts.

Dear Cheeniya sir,

September indeed is a month that sneaks in, not much fan fare, quieter in a way but brings in many changes - schools re opening, just as we get used to the schedules, the bus stops, the new teachers, a small break with labor day weekend helping all of us to catch a breather and more importantly, the changes in weather that it brings in - not too cold, not too hot but signs of approaching fall all around us with a slight yet a definite changes in color! September is the month sir, it is the month to look forward to!

As for the names and Gods, I think that Godess Lakshmi has willed herself to live permanently by the side of her lord in Tirupathi, more than the Premjis or the Ambanis of the world. Now doesn't that explain how that God is always so super rich.

That is a nice write up sir and wonderful welcome to September. Like I have to tell you that! The silence around me does inspire me to look around me more closely and like you, hope to read some fantastic posts.

My dear Viji
How thoughtful of you to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha just ahead of His Birthday by nominating rainbowresh's http://www.indusladies.com/forums/f...60020-vinayaka-aka-ganesha-getting-ready.html !

May the most benevolent of all Gods bless all the ILites with peace, prosperity and excellent health! He loves simplicity and is happy sitting under a tree even without a roof over His head! May we all imbibe His simplicity and feel happy and contented with a simple life!

Ostentatious life style is an open invitation to disaster. Only this morning, I was reading about a well known bureaucrat of the country getting arrested for taking bribe from an equally well known business magnet. This is what happens when our life style demands more resources than we can make lawfully.

The idol created by rainbowresh certainly brings out the great simplicity that this God stands for! I just admire the spirit behind the image. It was indeed very thoughtful of her to refrain from painting the Lord with dyes and chemicals. Speaks volumes about her ecological orientation! Thank you Viji for such a thoughtful nomination!

My dear Srama
Thank you for embellishing my thread with a lovely take on September. More than anything else, I do hope that this September month will see you more active in IL than you have been for the last couple of months. We always love to have amidst us people who talk the language of Richard Bach. I do look forward to your winged thoughts soaring high into the azure sky.

What! Already September, what was I doing as we are approaching the last quarter of the year. There is still so much to do by the year end and I'm nowhere anywhere yet. Rolling month after month in janus-faced, fabulously marching, app-reeling technologies, mayhem and jejune environmental coverage, jouling lies and auguring gusts of much needed political change, what does "September" signify

September for me is all about hopes, dreams, optimistic, fading summer, advancing winter, transition, change, and the best time for sweet romance, Come September (one of my all time favourite flicks)

Aria!
So September can bring you in too? That's very interesting. Let us soon have an year of only September months! Every one has a favourite month to wake up into with a start. Mine is January. That is the month that reminds me that I am a year older and more senile.

Talking of 'Come September', it is my all time favourite too. When Rock Hudson, its handsome hero died of AIDS, we all got a shock of our lives. The theme song of the movie, 'Come September' used to sell like hot cake here. I had this single which I played daily. On the reverse of this disc is the famous song 'Eighteen Yellow roses' sung by Bobby Darin. This youngster was cast with Sandra Dee, a pretty young thing, in the movie. When the shooting was in progress, Bobby Darin fell head over heels in love with Sandra. Bobby Darin started sending eighteen yellow roses daily to Sandra's mummy for several days, his reason being that one should get into the good books of mamma dog before coveting the puppy! His gamble paid off. They got married and their marriage survived for seven long years!

Come September ! Ask me anything about it! Except about Gina Lollobrigida. If you do, my answer will be only a series of sighs!
