    @Viswamitra
    My dear Viswa
    Thanks a lot for your nomination of @ashneys 's response to the thread
    Activities - How Do You Handle
    While the OP herself has stated, subjecting young kids to take up more than they can handle is indeed horrible. I could not help thinking of my own childhood decades ago when vacation meant just play time! I remember an old song on VACATION by Connie Francis. The lyrics of the song make a lot of sense:
    "V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N in the summer sun
    Put away the books, we're out of school
    The weather's warm but we'll play it cool
    We're on vacation, havin' lots of fun"

    ashneys has summed it up so well with the words:
    She has really hit the nail on its head!

    This is as it should be, so your response was pretty good Cheeniya - Wren & Martin is simultaneously head-supporting and nap-inducing! Although every once in a while these days I am overcome with nostalgia for that red brick. How many summer afternoons were squandered in somnolent incomprehension, nodding off to the grammatical complexities of "Under a spreading chestnut tree the village smithy stands" and "This is the house that Jack built"? :lol:

    Thank you for the kind words & 'fond' memories of W&M! :beer-toast1:

    I'd just as soon ban grammar tests Viswa - and now here you are, intent on making me revisit stuff that's long forgotten! :yikes:

    @ramasala a.k.a @jayasala42
    Dear jayasala
    Thanks a lot for your nomination of @HariLakhera 's The Burden Of Perfection
    As I was reading the post, I was struck by this line
    I was also contemplating on the change in the title of the blog as suggested by @Amulet and this brought to my mind the Agony and Ecstasy experienced by Michelangelo Buonarroti in painting the ceiling of Sistine Chapel. The work of perfection never comes without a lot of sweat. Every classic edifice that has withstood the test of tome reminds us of this. Hari is a master writer of experience. He proves it here yet again

    Hi Soka,

    It is a miracle that I write English especially considering my background, education and experience. I wish I had a mother who taught me English leave alone English grammar.

    Hahaha... "Test of Tome" happens to everyone who had written a Ph.D. thesis. After it is defended, in front of the doctoral committee (of self-important professors) and a whole gallery of various hecklers, the tome has to be bound and copies submitted to Grad.School, and fees paid for graduation etc.. Once it is all done, the one that had survived that test (of Tome) may never want to experience that again, or open that tome and see how a ver 2.0 could be a lot better.

    @ramasala
    Dear ramasala
    I thank you again for your nomination of @Balajee 's Seven Hops Around Fire
    Balajee has indeed brought rains to the parched city of Chennai. Every evening we have a huge canopy of dark clouds but not all of them bring rain. Yet Chennai has become wet with whatever rains it has received. Balajee plays Megh Malhar for rain but without success. I too keep listening to this song regularly hoping to receive some rain but what brought rain to us finally was Balajee's post! A typical tongue in cheek post by Balajee!

    @Amulet
    You make Test of Tome sound as good as Test of Time! I have no mind to change my Tome honoured response to Time honoured response after reading you!
