We admire elephants in part because they demonstrate what we consider the finest human traits: empathy, self-awareness, and social intelligence. But the way we treat them puts on display the very worst of human behaviour.” ― Graydon Carter Now don't ask me who Graydon Carter is. Knowing that despite my plea, you would persist with asking that, I just googled for some information about him and learned that this Canadian journalist was the editor of Vanity Fair, a popular American monthly for several years. I can give you some additional information about him. He bears a striking resemblance to Dhirubhai Ambani! Most of you would have by now guessed why I have quoted this. I am extremely fond of elephants for the reason given by Mr. Carter though I maintain a reasonable distance from them. I am also fond of them because of the comparison people make of me with them! I am sure that the cat is already out of the bag! Dear Cheeniya, Thank you for selecting "Of Elephant Bondage" as the finest post.More than the award is your characteristic summation and witty amplification of the subject. That is why you are SUPER Moderator. In APRIL 2009 My post"'A Dangerous Predicament was selected. This is what you said on this occasion." This is one of the rarest of rare cases where both husband and wife get nominated for FP.IL is surely under the grip of the wonderful couple".I dearly miss Mithila on this occasion. Regards SLN
Dear Viswa, Thanks for the nomination.Inspite of its size, Elephant does not show off its strength unless provoked or deprived of its food or walking track. There is a lot to learn from the elephants on humility. Regards SLN
