Life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it. A chance conversation, an unplanned detour, or a simple gesture can transform an ordinary day into something extraordinary. These moments remind us of the richness in spontaneity, the joy of embracing change, and the lasting impact that thoughtfulness can have on our hearts. As I mentioned elsewhere, we had a young guest over for the holiday weekend. He surprised me by showing up at the dining table at 7 a.m., while everyone else was still asleep. I wasn’t quite ready for company, but being the considerate host , I embraced the moment. We started talking, and he told me about his schooling in India, the teachers, and homework projects. He also told me about his favorite books, which led me to share how I transitioned from reading British to American literature. How I sometimes imagine being a mobile librarian during the Great Depression, when women would ride on horseback through the snow to deliver books to rural areas (true story). Our early morning conversation flowed from topic to topic, much like our winning post took folks on a journey through different restaurants. Yes: The Winner of the Finest Post Award is @Srama for the snippet: Bhatura, Jilebis, Pumpkins And Books! I’m getting a head start on my New Year’s resolutions. One of my resolutions is to find joy in the smallest moments, knowing that when filled with care, intention, and a few happy surprises, they can become some of our most cherished memories. I am hopeful that @Srama will continue to bless us with her snippets that will often serve as a reminder in the new year. Congratulations @Srama. Reading your writing is a joy in multiple layers. I find myself experiencing the joy of the story’s events, and your own joy in telling them is unmistakably felt. Does that make sense? Thank you all for the nominations. Congratulations to our dear @iyerviji for nominating the winning post. It bears repeating - your support and diligence for FP are truly appreciated. Your commitment makes all the difference. .
Sabi is my alter ego. Congratulating her is like congratulating myself. Her sense of beauty and her picturesque description of the manifestations of life around us set her apart as a writer. Congratulations my dear Sabi!
@Rihana You never fail to stun me with your commitment to the task entrusted to you. I truly admire your selection of the winners of FP Award month after month. The icing on the cake is the way you present the winner. I have often walked down this street before but not the way you do it!
Thank you. I am guided by the wisdom of an owl : ) who has taught me so much, by patiently observing and offering quiet guidance when I need it most.
@iyerviji My dear, dear Viji I don't know how to thank you for keeping this alive. I wonder why others do not take the cue from you and start nominating. Many ILites respond to a lot of posts every month but they just don't nominate. Thanks again Vijit
Congratulations to @Srama and @iyerviji Akka for winning/nominating the best of November's wonderful post. Sabitha, your snippets are always like a fresh breeze we smell when we walk outside early morning. You are remaining a winner for both 7 years old and 70 years old.
