Dear ILites, October was all about the power and celebration of feminine shakti. With Navratri bringing in the Trinity of wisdom, wealth and welfare into our lives, we in Indusladies celebrated the festival in our own globalised, cosmopolitan yet traditional way with Kolu photos, sundal recipes ,and social & sublime spiritual articles. And Finest Posts celebrated October's Navratri with many resplendent nominations. So, it is with much joy and pride that we gift ourselves with the Finest Post of October. ‘The Woes of Giving Gifts’ by Twinsmom! Congrats! Twinsmom. You have done all of us proud with a candid article. The joy of gift giving and receiving is something that we all look forward to. Sometimes, both can turn out to be trick or treat experience too. Twinsmom has made a full and detailed narration of the dynamics of gift giving. I am almost tempted to call it an anthropological account as she traces the gift-road from a cash laden envelope, to a steel bowl wrapped in ghastly magenta paper, to the wish list, to picking up the tab for the gift. As times change, she shows us that the art of gifting has evolved just as we have. And in modern times, gifting is as much a woe as it is a joy. Congratulations! Twinsmom. Over the months, you have made your presence in IL very special with your writings. And this shows how much your works are appreciated here. Regards Kamla & Vidya24
hi vidya/kamla, I know this month with so many nominations would have really been tough on you...kudos to both of you....
Dear ILites, Congrats! Twinsmom for winning the award for the Finest Post- October. Your post was a gift, a lesson, a sheer joy to read. We thanks all our dedicated ILites who made nominations this month. Some of them return unfailingly to Finest Posts every month and we thank them for their continued support. To those who came in for the first time, we hope you will become permanent features in FP. In sheer numbers, the nominations in October, were sizeable. In terms of quality, the message they had to convey, the nominations were an exotic blend. We celebrated Navratri with two festive posts. One was from the heart and hearth, telling us about the joys of fresh and fragrant amma-made sundal. The other also from the heart was an account of contemporary Navratri- the celebrations, the commercial and social evils therein. We cruised to South Africa and learnt about a resilient Indian diaspora there, retaining Indian culture. And how they are linked to our freedom movement. We travelled from the realms of Yam to the simple commerce of enforcing money power on kids. We made a list, did not clutter and discussed our dining tables. We shed tears of joy as we read about how goodness is always returned to the doer. The joys of giving and receiving gifts is always special to all of us. Which we learn in the crown of the nominations- the winner of October. And so it was in the mellow month of October. See you all in November! regards Kamla & Vidya24
