As we walk, I see that the neighborhood is getting ready for fall. Brighter colors, cooler temperatures, lovelier skies! Well, that is what we have been anticipating, but what we have actually had are warmer temperatures and gusty winds. Nevertheless, Chairs are out, pumpkins on display, colorful scarecrows out, the fairy gardens taking shape, not to forget all the lovely mums!

I see the four display rocks, and today they appear to me like they have a frown, as if to say they, too, are disappointed with the weather.

Towards the end of the walk, I come to my favorite house for decorations, and lo and behold, I see that her scarecrows are covered in a veil, like they are waiting for the right time for the veil to be lifted.

I come home thinking, feeling heavy, I have been busy. Not that there is anything wrong with it. I have many a friend who loves being busy, but yours truly needs her 'nature time'. I realize that I have not been spending time watching nature do its magic. But then, where has the magic been? All I see is greenery everywhere. My tomato plants are still giving me tomatoes, not that I am complaining. My yard, which I had decided needed a makeover this fall, looks pristine. I continue to try to balance the need for that beauty and the busy schedule!

I am in my spin class. And for the first time in months, I feel like she is pushing me. I am grateful for her presence. No matter what, she is there, doing her job - one student or ten students. I wonder where she gets that energy from. I promise myself that I will lift myself up and be like her - doing my job to the best of my ability, no matter what! I come out of the class feeling completely energized mentally and physically, realizing that I have not felt that in months. I feel like I have finally found a 'piece of myself'. I am excited. But Mother Nature has different plans. The rains! What started as a drizzle that morning continues for two days! The dogs are upset, the house feels messier, and it feels like the sun is getting up later and sleeping even sooner. Who likes cloudy days, tell me?

Just like that, while driving back from school, I see the bright sun shine from behind the dark greys on the other, and the trees are all magical - oranges, reds, and the fallen yellow leaves on the ground going here and there with the wind. There is chill in the air, but beauty around. I am super thrilled—the magic of that incessant rain. Finally, fall is here - a tad bit too late for our region, but here it is nevertheless.

I come home excited and let the puppies out. I bring them back in and with joy I claim loudly, "Time for trick or treat". To my surprise, both of them sit down like good puppies with their heads going this way and that with those floppy ears. I wonder why they are doing that and realize that through my excitement and chatter, all they have heard is "treat" - hence their posture in anticipation of a treat. I laugh heartily, give them their treats, and get chocolates ready for the little monsters, goblins, fairies, and anyone else who comes our way.

As I begin to prepare the chocolate bins and clean the countertop, I am surprised by what I see in my kitchen window. A couple of birds have decided to perch on the...wait for it, window screen, hanging on tightly, looking in and around them with their heads bobbing in excitement to the continuous chirps. It almost felt like they too wanted in on the fun and excitement happening in the house.

As we enjoy the lovely evening, I am surprised to see fewer kids. Still, I'm happier to see that almost every house in the neighborhood has a fire going on in front of their homes, with people bundled up, chatting with friends, and some even sitting cozily in front of outdoor TVs. I decide perhaps this is the way it is now....enjoying the outdoors with friends and family while giving out candy to the trick-or-treaters. I am happy, as the trick-or-treat hours wind down, that I bring the dogs in, close my front door with a smile, and think of those scarecrows with a veil over them. I am sure it has been lifted too...just like mine has been from the gloominess I have been feeling!

I decide to go for a walk the next morning and take a look.

The narration of your merging mind with Mother Nature and her meadows and plush gardens with chirping birds has walked me spot on indeed. The post itself is enchanting conjuring up morning mist obscuring colourful flowers and other greenery behind. Illustrations galore - A vicarious treat to eyes & harmony and tranquil to mind!

    Dear @Thyagarajan ,

Thank you for a very poetic response as well.
It is very rare that I am not in tune with nature but the past few months have been different. I am glad to be back to my routine self :) Truly appreciate your feedback.
