Hi Friends, I don't know, its interesting or not...just sharing my today thinking... sorry if it becomes bore read to you.

    Diwali Wow- Happy! Happy!! Celebration!!!
Just want to share my missing moments. Also share yours...lets get our missing moment happens!!!

Deepavali/Diwali all is happy. Especially children are very excitement also dream about how to spend. Children are happy to celebrate, whatever they think they do.(Crackers and special shows). On that every children wake up earlier and have oil bath ,wear new dress and go to straight crackers (damaal-dumil, bushhhh). (Temple also)

    A smile makes us happy.

Just thinking about my mom, On that day she spend in kitchen (Before day also, she starts to do variety of snacks and sweets) She doesn’t have enough sleep for two days or more . She starts from warmwater, coffee, milk, boost, milo, complan, kanji, breakfast on special day like one sweet, two tiffens, two chutneys, sambar then Lunch like vada,payasam,.....many dishes to do next evening tea and snacks then dinner is simple because we eat lot on that day right!

Then only think today little bit heavy ... we see our tummy (tummy looks us). Oh..NO... I forget to eat Diwali Legiyam for digestion.

Im really happy with Joint Families because we have lot of brothers and sisters...we tease and play on that especially when we go to start firecrackers.

Our uncles are security for us. Have bucket full of water and light a candle. Give crackers one by one with carefully (slight peel off paper in crackers thread) to us. These are my childhood Diwali.

Now, everything is missing because MARRIAGE and WORK. All are spilt simply share our clicks in whatsapp. Sweets and snacks from sweet shop.Just do one sweet and karam in home (like vada/bajji and jamun/keasar) thats it. Kids are in TV shows, Social media and also in fire crackers but not much like olden days.

Missing my grand pa and ma house celebration and all moments.

House full of family members with little cute kutties.

Share our work and do the menus together’

Loads of talks and enjoyable moment.

    These are my missing memories.

Presently, I am celebrating my Diwali with my family members. Doing snacks and Sweets. Arrange home freshly. But I’m not feel enjoy...Just think about mom...how she handle these festival days with loads of work in kitchen and outside. My inlaws said,on that times we have loads of work, now lot of changes.

    TRUE ONE.

Finally Thanks to whatapp atleast we able to see in video call and share our memories together.

    Shubha Diwali.

First of all , wish you a very happy Diwali. Try to make the best of the present situation and have an enjoyable time with family. Yes, looking back at Diwali celebrations in earlier years, we can see the enthusiasm and involvement of everyone for the festival, is definitely on the decline. It has become more of a period of commercialisation with business vying with each other to promote their products during this time and people do try to buy things around this time, as considered auspicious. We can also go along with it to some extent and try to keep up the spirits along with our children and family.

So true  I even used to cry asking for more boxes of crackers.
    And those “Bijilis”

After entering college I stopped bursting crackers. Now I get so annoyed if I hear the sound :screamcat:

Yes.. Have you tried that stunt of bursting that Bijili pataki in hand. ??:grin:

True, we too never buy crackers. But I would be telling lies if I said we don't burst at all . Some or the other relatives we visit call us for bursting one set of crackers!
So, so far unable to avoid it.

Shubh Deepavali to you too @Alyssum ! Thanks for the touching write up. It belongs in the snippets forum. Agree with you about the joint families. Nothing lives up to the hungama of celebrating a festival with a gaggle of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The women huddled in the kitchens turning out one delicacy after another. The guys hanging from the windows and rooftops putting up flower garlands and lights. Us kids lolling around playing cards and board games, waiting for the green light to start eating. It was chaos and I miss it terribly! : )
