Just in case you do not know, your lashes have a short cycle of growth, which actually lasts for only about 30-45 days. Allergic reactions, toxins, thyroid problems, eye infections, sun radiation, constant rubbing of eyes, medical conditions as well as specific medications can also cause breakage of eyelashes, which makes it difficult to grow eyelashes. The growth rate of eye lashes has been predetermined by your genes, although some nutrients can actually boost eye lash growth

    Vitamin C

This is a known antioxidant that can strengthen a person’s immune system and protect the lashes from toxins, infections as well as diseases that might affect the growth of hair. Vitamin C can also hydrate the lashes, accelerate the healing process, decrease inflammation of hair follicle, repair the damages of hair follicles, aid in production of collagen and lower the possibilities of breakage of eyelashes. Foods enriched with vitamin C include cauliflower, cranberries, broccoli, pineapple, Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, and kale.

    Vitamin B-3

Also called niacin, Vitamin B-3 can stimulate the growth of eyelashes, eliminate brittle and dry eyelashes, improve the flow of blood going to hair follicles, aid in production of cells, prevent the lashes from falling out and help the body in metabolizing keratin which is a protein supporting growth of hair. Vitamin B-3 foods that can help you grow eyelashes include salmon, beef liver, tuna, tilapia, peanuts, sunflower seeds, asparagus, and mushrooms.

    Vitamin E

This is a kind of antioxidant which can improve in the function of the immune system and protect the follicles from the dangerous free radicals which can prevent the lashes from growing. Safflower oil, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, almonds, kale, hazelnuts, spinach, avocados, blueberries and peanut butter are the foods that are great sources of vitamin E.

    Vitamin H

Known for its other name biotin, vitamin H is great for growing eyelashes, increasing flow of blood to the hair follicles, thickening the eyelashes, preventing them from drying and breaking off, improving the condition of the lashes and eyes both and helping your body in absorbing the nutrients like amino acids, fats and carbohydrate that are needed for stimulating and maintaining healthy eyelashes.

    Calcium

The last nutrient that can certainly help grow eyelashes is calcium that has been proven to lengthen eyelashes, prevent their breakage and lower the danger of hair loss brought about by hypothyroidism, which is a condition which happens when the person’s thyroid gland is no longer producing sufficient hormone for regulating the metabolic rate of the body and the levels of blood calcium.
