Hi, Monthly once I go to beuty parlour to shape my eyebrows. Now I am going to a chinese shop and they do waxing type to shape it. However, one of my friend said when we do waxing for eybrow shaping the skin will loose there and soon some wrinkles will come. Anyhow,I didn't belive this but deep inside I am scared about this. Is it really true and it does make any sense? What is the difference between threading and waxing? And which one has better effects and which one has more side effects? regards srilak.
waxing-not advisable I read this comment by Shahnaz Hussien in The Hindu. She says that for any hair removal on the face, waxing is not advisable. Waxing apparently erodes the elasticity of the face. For other parts, waxing is okay.
Same question!! Hi Srilak, You have posted what was there in my mind too for a long time now. I used to get my eyebrows waxed but when I met this Indian lady who does all this work from home, I started going to her and she mentioned the same point as you did, and although i still continued going to the chinese salon once in a while, i did have it in the back of my mind. This lady was gone to India for a couple of months and I was worrying so much, but she just called yday to inform that she's back!!! Not only is threading deemed to be a better way to deal with skin, it also is less expensive than the waxing we do at the other salons. I pay her 5 bucks as against 12(incl tip) at the salon.
Hi, I use plucker for removing extra hair from eyebrows. I used to go to parlour for threading too. If I cannot go to parlour, at that time I use plucker. Can anybody suggest me that using a plucker is good or bad? Is it bad?
Dear Vidhyalakshmi Dear Vidhyalakshmi , Don't ever use plucker - it will spoil the shape . So better u wait till u r able to go the parlour , ok ? With love , Indhu.
hi all , in china they don't do threading infact they use blade to shape there so called eyebrows . but we indians don't hv any option rather than plucker . shall i stop using it ? then what else i should do to shape my eyebrows . i don't know self threading . can somebody tell me how to do self threading ?
hi all, i am chinna i am new to this site,i liked it. i am from hyderabad, and now i am in uk recently came here.i dont know parlar here n where to go for eyebrow shaping.so i am using plucker regularly bcoz i dont know how to do self threding.what should i do now? Is it bad????? plz give me an advice. THANX in advance.
HI, Thanks for all the inputs. So everyone agrees that waxing is not that good comparing to threading. Regarding plucker, here everyone,my friends, use it. They go to parlour for eyebrow shaping every 2 to 3 months like that and in between they take it off unwanted hair by plucking. I think it won't harm. They say it will maintain your eyebrow shape. However, for me it pains a lot so I never did it. Regards Srilak.
Hello to all. Does anyone know of an eyebrow threader in Cleveland, Ohio, USA area? If so, please provide a name and phone number and email to nizoral2@yahoo.com Thank you.
Hi all, for those of you looking for a place that does threading in your country/state/city this site will help you Eyebrow Threading: All about eyebrow threading, facial hair threading, and finding threading salons near you For those of you who want to learn self threading be warned that it is not easy and takes a lot of patience. To get started you will need a strong thread not an easily breaking one. I prefer coats 100% cotton number (??) I have to check. cut a 16 inch long thread and make a loop by knotting the two ends (hold two ends together loop over your ring finger, bring you thumb against the loop, push it off while twirling and pulling tight). this is the easy part. make figure eight while holding the loop on the edges of ring finger and thumb of both hands. Increase the twists by keeping one hand stationary and twirling the other hand either in clockwise OR anti clockwise direction. This is also an easy part. Practice moving thumb and ringfinger of one hand only bringing them closer and stretching them farther apart while keeping the thread streched taut and the other hand stationary. Once you get a hang of it, now try moving thumb and ringfinger of both hands in co-ordination, while one set is close together , the other will be wide apart and vice versa. practice this while keeping the thread tautly stretched. this is the medium hard part. Now hold both hands very close to the area that needs to be rid of hair and move the '<' part of the loop over the hair so that edges of the hair are betweent the thread. stretch fingers of one hand wide apart simultaneously bringing the fingers of the other hand close together and repeat. If you are lucky you will manage to thread out few hairs at this first attempt. This is the hard part and this is where patience comes in handy. Keep trying until you get to master it. Please try on your legs or on your toe hair first. The key is holding the thread taught. Major disadvantage of plucker is that you might pull skin also along with hair leaving tiny scars or pits. have fun trying.... Pushpa
