    Hi all,

Does therapy really work? I am expecting responses from people who have undergone one and has firsthand experience or who closely witnessed experiences of their family/friends especially for ‘Depression And Anxiety’.

Any relevant comment is helpful. If there’s an ILite who you think can share their experience or any threads/posts here on IL with shared experiences, please do tag/post the links.

Does therapy make any difference and how much really is my question.

It definitely works but before therapy try counseling for someone.

    psychologists are different from psychiatric

    try psychologist first

more than anything ..the person should have the will to change themselves also.they also need to tr
    Both ways only it helps

    Counseling works.
What kind of therapy are you thinking about.

Care to elaborate on any known experiences?

Looking for some deeper level help, so, would prefer therapy to counseling.

Yes, that is true! It is definitely not a pill that, if taken it's gone ..:grinning:

Don't know yet, but I was expecting the therapist to suggest which works best.

Depression, total loss of self-confidence, interest and motivation for things are some major concerns. Don't know which kind of therapy will really talk/make sense.

Any known stories you can share? please do.

The point is..with psychologist they won’t prescribe medication..Psychiatricts do..then chance of addictions to that medication work start

so start with psychologist instead of the latter.

I know. Yeah, I don't favour meds as well. Looking for some real experiences - whether therapy works or a waste of time given that you are with a good therapist and you do want to heal.

    Dear @Metamorphic

    Yes yes definitely therapy helps.
But you have to find the right psychologist / therapist / doctor.
I regularly see several people - with & without the right kind of help

The ones who get help are able to navigate their lives better, not have too many episodes and they learn to anticipate and handle the triggers better.

I would go one step ahead and say the family of the person with "Depression/Anxiety" should ALSO attend a few sessions - alone or together - as suggested by the therapist - so that they can help the person by responding to their episodes better or by lessening the effect of their triggers or even preventing the triggers.

Any treatment is not easy - it takes a lot of will power. It will take time, discipline and a lot of understanding and sacrifices from the family.

The most important thing being - the patient accepts that they need help with navigating their life, they must be prepared to follow through the therapy with patience and determination.

But the end result is always positive. Your world will definitely see sunshine!

    Keep smiling
    HR

Counseling will surely help. In person or online
    Try it for sometime.
