A girl, when she is born, she is considered a doll. She is lucky to be pampered and called “Mahalakshmi” of the house. As she grows, she has been told the “Dos and DON’Ts” in her life. Even at her tender age, she has to live within her so called limits……..
Then the D-Day arrives, looking for a bridegroom for the girl, who was once a little doll. The girl is now in her dreams, thinking of her future and with a mixed feelings of getting into a totally new relation which is not aware of at all!!!
She thinks of her love, and starts living in a dreamland which is full of greenery, happiness, romance, you name it and it is there. She not only dreams but also nurtures her thoughts like a mother and starts living in them.
She imagines her so-called Prince to take her of her, be gentle, held her tender arms, lend a shoulder for her to lean on and a person who can understand anything she utters.
Everyday will be a dream for her. She dreams that her in-laws should be like her parents, who will take care of her like her parents did,
She dreams as to how she will be welcomed as a Princess to her new Home, the duties that she has to fulfill as a wife, daughter in law, etc. She will be on the top of the sky thinking that she is now a grown up woman and part of decision making in her family, going out with her Prince like movies, parks, temples, relatives’ house, hand in hand and secret glances once in a while and making signs through the eyes, etc., then her cousins teasing her…………………. What a moment it would be.
But how many girls live their dreams, especially after marriage?? Very difficult to answer, isn’t it?
Give it a thought, are all our daughters happy over there? Somewhere they have to make and are making compromises, sacrifices to live their life irrespective of whether they are working or not, true, isn’t?
    Think…………. Think…………… Think

Dear Banu, right from the childhood days, we should be taught to live with realities. Dreams are fine but the difficulties of life should be understood. It is in our hands to make the dreams become true.

    Hi Banu,

Your blog is true reflection of many lives.

Our girls should be thought to stand up for themself.
If i don't standup for myself, who will??

    Dear Banu,

Thats reality. Only in fairy tale the princess (o woman in real world) would go roaming here and there and everybody around her keep praising her. But in real, she has to do LOTS of adjustments for her to create a happy surrounding around her. Yes, not all woman are lucky enough to enter into a nice agreeable family ... anyways if the expectations are less, we might be able to live with/without it..

    Thoughtful question posted ... Nice..
