    This is a very similar scene when i was growing up..only thing i had extra was guest ALL the time..so something special for them??!! Thats exactly why i cannot do doubles, etc..bad me i think:)

    Hi sri,

    I hope i can call you that. I can relate so much to your piece for years this battle for the perfectly cooked and squishy rice has been going on my family. Mom wants it soft and sis wants it firm. I clearly enjoyed reading your dilemma as it is one we all have faced sometime or the other or rather everyday.

    Hi aqua,
    call me the way you like, no problem.

    This dilemma of squishy food and firm rice is still there in our house.
    That is the reason for the usage of rice cooker and the pressure cooker.

    Moreover I bought some other brand of rice this time and the water usage for it was different and my father asked me whether that was a Pongal bonkhahaha..

    Sri......mmmmmmmm:cry:....just kidding...need the lighter(here I was really thinking for a while whether the spelling is right or not...searched in dictionary...saw a lots who were already in confusion...any suggestions from anybody?) treats in life...
