    Emotional feels -A Sea of Change
    When I was YOUNG,
    I found it DIFFICULT to WAKE UP.
    Now, I am OLD,
    I find it hard to SLEEP.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I was WORRIED stiff
    about MY PIMPLES.
    Now when I am OLD,
    I am WORRIED about
    MY WRINKLES.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I was agog to HOLD
    My spouse's HAND.
    Now I am OLD,
    I am in wait for SOMEONE to HOLD MY HAND.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I wanted my parents to leave me alone
    Now when I am OLD
    I am concerned to be left alone
    When I was YOUNG,
    I HATED being ADVISED.
    Now when I am OLD,
    there is none around to speak or render ADVISE.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I always ADMIRED BEAUTIFUL THINGS.
    Now when I am OLD,
    I see BEAUTY in THINGS around ME.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I felt I was ETERNAL.
    Now when I am OLD,
    I know SOON it will be MY TURN.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I CELEBRATED the MOMENTS.
    Now when I am OLD,
    I am CHERISHING MY MEMORIES.
    When I was YOUNG,
    I always desired to remain a HEART - THROB.
    Now when I am OLD,
    I am concerned when
    MY HEART cease.
    At evening of my LIFE,
    I WORRY but hardly REALIZE LIFE NEEDS to BE EXPERIENCED.
    It DOESN'T MATTER whether i am YOUNG or OLD: LIFE needs to be lived and LIVED WITH LOVE & LOVED ONES

    I thank Almifhty for granting this wonderful journey called LIFE.

    Dear Thyagarajan Sir,

    A wonderful poetic snippet about how life is led and how it needs to be led! Half the battle is won if an elderly person has so many young friends and they keep injecting their youthfulness to an elderly person. Even a smallest wound will be nurtured when one is young but an elderly person learns to live with them unaffected. Obsessions are part of life when one is young but when one gets older, only thing one cares is possession of love of the dearest. One counts the minutes when one is young but an older person counts days.

    Dear Sir,

    Wonderful poem about growing old.

    It just looks like yesterday when I was leading a busy schedule of office and home. Today I am running after my grandchildren with stiff joints.

    How fast times fly.

    Regards
    Uma

    Dear sister @umaakumar & my brother @Viswamitra
    Thanks for being here and texted nice comments. Cent % I agree. Time flies. I wish I remain in crib or cradle enjoying the lullaby by my mom and mom's elder and younger sisters. The more one spend time with bubbly young ones, he or she forget his age and big load off chest.

    When I was young, I was mindful of tomorrow's schedule and would get up early to plan the day.
    Now I am old and feel so happy when I get up and find I am alive.

    Father William
    [IMG]
    "You are old, father William," the young man said,
    "And your hair has become very white;
    And yet you incessantly stand on your head —
    Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

    "In my youth," father William replied to his son,
    "I feared it would injure the brain;
    But now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
    Why, I do it again and again."

    "You are old," said the youth, "as I mentioned before,
    And have grown most uncommonly fat;
    Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door —
    Pray, what is the reason of that?"

    "In my youth," said the sage, as he shook his grey locks,
    "I kept all my limbs very supple
    By the use of this ointment — one shilling the box —
    Allow me to sell you a couple."

    "You are old," said the youth, "and your jaws are too weak
    For anything tougher than suet;
    Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak —
    Pray, how did you manage to do it?"

    "In my youth," said his father, "I took to the law,
    And argued each case with my wife;
    And the muscular strength, which it gave to my jaw,
    Has lasted the rest of my life."

    "You are old," said the youth; one would hardly suppose
    That your eye was as steady as ever;
    Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose —
    What made you so awfully clever?"

    "I have answered three questions, and that is enough,"
    Said his father; "don't give yourself airs!
    Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
    Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!"

    Nice write up @Thyagarajan sir,

    I am in my early 40s, and I feel so old already when I think the year 2000 has gone 24 years ago.
    That was the year I started feeling myself, and experienced life to the fullest. After that decade, everything else was a battle. Battle to stay married, battle to grow in my career, battle to have kids, battle to sustain relationships, battle to grow wealth and settle, battle with health issues and what not. Surviving through all these battles seemed huge success, but with that, we have lost some 20 years.

    Fast forward to today, I am still in my 20s in my mind and wanted to continue from where I have left. But my body, my responsibilities and the experience that I have gained so far makes me feel odd.

    Life is too short. I have already lost a couple of my friends to deadly diseases. They were all like me. They dreamed of a beautiful future and work so hard like horses towards their goals, but half way through, they lost it. They are gone forever.
    They could have lived instead. Lived the life to the maximum.

    But on the other hand, there were people who wanted to live, and never joined this race (for better life) with us. Sadly, they are now facing the consequences, and will be battling for the basics till their last breath.

    Life should be balanced. We must live, experience life and make memories while progressing towards a better future. The success should not be measured against others, but against our past. To each their own :)
