Effect of absence of a parent on the psychic of the child

Hi

Single parenting is a challenging job. One has to fill in for the absence of one of the parent. Inspit of best effeorts, at times, the child may miss the fatherly or motherly figure. He/She may search for it in strangers outside? How does one make sure that child's psychic is not affected and he/she develops a balanced outlook towards relations.

Very pertinent point. Even though i don thave first hand experience with that. Induskr is right person to practical wisdom to it. I wish she visits this thread somehow.

However with my limited knowledge and analysis, I think having other healthy male relations, like maternal uncle , paternal uncle and grandparents would be good point to start. I had two females friends, who had lost their father in their early childhood. And their experiences tell me, that both benefited profusely from a extra strong mother figure and maternal uncles.
