True. Govt schools re ignored as many if them in horrible state. Poor maintenance and less or no teaching staff. It is worse in rural areas. Those children of poverty prefer to plough and make money for food and family. Many left their parched village and made exidus to urban areas. For every skyscraper there is a hamlet for poor who doing menial jobs and or act as domestic help for middle and upper class. Even midday meal provided free by government fail to attract boys and girls from impoverished group. Rich and poor seek admission in private or convent schools that demands huge donation in cash and charge exorbitant for tution and extra curricular. Despite all this, there are no seekers admission into govt schools. Govt colleges huge infrastructure and lowest fees.
I think mainly parents got interested in English medium schools, Govt didn't catch up with providing both mediums. I was watching some retired IAS interview, he says purposefully the Govt neglected govt schools, some class and caste based thinking of Govt leaders. They are not even allocating enough funds to education. And lobbying of private schools. Private colleges and universities also coming very fast. Soon Govt colleges also will loose its charm.
