    Chitti,

    Thanks for the links. I have asked some priests in bay area and they said, we are not effected by both the eclipses. I am not too sure about in texas. try to ask any priests up there and confirm once more.

    Hi Dreams and chitti:

    Well its true USA is not affected by the eclipse, but you could still follow it by converting the time of eclipse in India to what time it would be here. Also if u visit the website of NASA, you get the eclipse time in Universal time format, you could always convert that time to your respective time zones. Follow the link below.
    NASA - Eclipses During 2008

    Hope it helps

    Hi All,
    The solar eclipse starts at 1:34pm and goes on till 6:15. In India it can be seen from 4 to 6.

    Can anybody tell what precautions needs to be taken today for pregnancy? Padma (IL name : Padmatvt) told me not to use any sharp edged things like knife,cissor etc.

    Hi Monsi,

    We have a partial eclipse here. when I asked my mom, she told me not to go out during that time and stay at home. She asked me not to do anything and just lie down and watch TV or something. I remember when I was a kid, when there was an eclipse, at the end of it, we were asked to have a bath. We dint use food that was cooked before the eclipse.

    I dont think there is any scientific explanation to all these!!! May be one of the old wives tales. Anyway, no harm in staying indoors!!! and of course dont look at the sun with naked eyes (that applies even when u r not pregnant)!!!

    Check this out
    Is it safe to go out during an eclipse?

    Cheers,
    Asha

    Hi :wave

    During the eclipse it was advised in the newspaper & by all the elders to take many precautions including:

    * During the day, do not do any work.
    * Do not cut anything
    * Do not go out
    * During the eclipse, do not bend your arms or legs or any body part.
    * Do not lie down or sleep
    * Recite some holy words from start to end of eclipse
    * Keep walking while reciting these holy words
    * Do not use remote/mouse etc
    * Open all the locks in the house

    For husband:

    * Do not use pen
    * Do not use bike/car
    * Do not use remote/mouse

    My husband & I, walked for the 2 hours during the eclipse & recited some holy word given by our guru ji. My husband also told me that here in Punjab, there is one oval/stadium where all pregnant women collect with their husbands during the eclipse & walk while reciting holy words.

    There is one more eclipse on the 16th of August in which all these rules will have to be followed again. :-D

    Take care,
    Aruneh
