    Choc Pudding

    A recipe I found in allrecipes and is very very handy.
    Here it is;
    Ingredients
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    3 tablespoons cornstarch
    2 cups milk
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    Directions
    In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa and cornstarch. Whisk in milk a little at a time so the mixture does not have any dry lumps.
    Place in the microwave, and cook for 3 minutes on high. Stir, then cook at 1 minute intervals, stirring between cooking times for 2 to 4 minutes, or until shiny and thick. Stir in vanilla.
    Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming, and chill in the refrigerator. Serve cold

    Nitha:
    That is a basic chocolate cornstarch pudding. That is what folks made before Jello was marketed and is the cheap and better version. I used to make vanilla a lot and then I would layer in different things like blobs of peanut butter, crushed cookies, swirls of jam, chopped nuts....just use your imagination. The Indian custard powder is the same thing only in India you make it very thin.

    just saw this thread and wanted to say about gelatin.
    The regular gelatin has some pork ingredients, but if you go to any arabic speciality shops, they would have vegetarian gelatin. i am sure it should be available in bigger stores too. ask for vegetarian gelatin and you shud be able to find it.. good luck..
