My son who is 2.5 years old has been coughing at night times only. Around 2 to 2.30 pm every night it has been going on for 4 nights now.

I wake up give him Honey lemon which is not a cough syrup but is available in markets for small babies.
Then I keep him elevated pillow, apply some vicks..

He still coughs for quite some time and then goes to sleep.

In the mornings he is fine.

Can you suggest some remedies and any idea what is happening?

    Thanks
    Pavithra

    Hi Pavithra,

I would suggest that you make sure he is not too cold while sleeping. Also, try rubbing vicks on his feet and put a pair of cotton socks on. If the cough is along with a bit of sputum, I would suggest you take him to a paed .

    Best regards,

Ptamil, Panamkalkandu has worked for DD. I get it from khadi shop, latest packed ones, add it in milk. I also do that dark tulsi leaf+karpooravalli --> fry for 1min, add 1cup water, let it simmer to 1/4cup, i give that to her first thing in the morning, after a quick hair wash. She gets better.

My son seems to be falling sick and I am worried

I tried everything now..It seems as dry cough. He seems to be coming down with something..Throat infection I am guessing.

But the reason I am worried more is the coming Sunday, my husband and my son are flying to India and I am going the next week.

This is the first time he will be away from me, if he is sick, he would become cranky and need me..
And also with 13 hour flight journey with a child not feeling well is making me scared.

    Please help

    Ptamil,

    try giving him raisins.

Milk with panakalkandu and turmeric with litte pepper in the night will also help. Also use humidifier if it is very humid and dry.

You may try this for 2 days, if it does not go, you have to consult the doctor.
