Almost all cellphones these days come with a camera. As we can't be carrying around a stand alone camera all the time, this feature comes in handy. We can capture some kodak moments that we would otherwise not be able to do. However, I need to be able to download these photos into a computer so I can email them to my family. Does anyone know how do I do it? Sheetal
Methods i know Dear Sheetal, There are various ways of transferring data (pics, sounds, files), from cell phones to the computer. Usually most of the camera phones come with infrared. Many latest notebooks (laptops) have infrared ports too. By activating the infrared in your mobile and keeping it very near (say an inch) to the infrared port in ur laptop u can transfer the photoes. I do it that way. I transfer the photoes from my mobile to my hubby's laptop. Even our regular desktop computerss can be made infrared compatible by buying an infrared card, which is available in the PC markets. There is one more accessory called bluetooth in advanced cell phones. Bluetooth is also a medium like infrared but the range is wider. The area may be 10 mts or so. That is u can transfer data within 10 mts of the range. You need not keep the phone as near to the computer as in the case of infrared. computers can be made to read blue tooth signals with a blue tooth card. The other method is far simpler and more economical. Some phones have usb ports. You can buy an usb cable that suits ur phone and connect the phone's usb port to the usb port of the computer, throught that usb cable , thus enabling transfer of data. Hope this helps Sheetal.
Try Vizrea.com Hi Sheetal, Recently I read somewhere that www.vizrea.com helps people manage their cellphone photos. I have not tried it and I don't know how easy it is. Since I read about it, I thought I will pass along..Thanks. Pooja
Other methods Hi Sheetal, I agree with the methods mentioned by Miss Parthi. Apart from these, one option is by using an additional memory card(SD card) in your cellphone and then using the same memory card on your laptop. The other option is limited to few photos and if the cellphone is not compatible for the additional gadgets, you can sms or email to your internet id like yahoo or hotmail using the photos as attachments. I hope this is helpful. Cheers!!! Rachana
bluetooth use can anyone say about how to use a bluetooth in laptop thanks in advance with regards sudharsini
Sudarshini, Which laptop are you using? Models may have a different blue tooth switch. IBM, Dell etc have a small switch at the place where you hav the lever to open the laptop. Not sure if I was clear in that. Anyway, check your lappy manual, you'll get the switch. Turn it on. This should show you a blue colored 'B' on the right bottom corner of your desktop. If you click on that, you can configure the settings, like whether you want to have a passkey for other devices accessing you, whether you want automatic download to start, where your recieved files should be save etc. Once this is done, search for the devices around with the search for device item on the menu. Click on the device and transfer files. Another method is to right click on the file to be sent from the lappy to another blue tooth device, and chose 'sent to bluetooth device' and scan for the right device and click on send. Hope i've been able to explain in a simple way. Do let me know if you any other queries?
