Double Standards

Today I read about the divorce of Tennis player Mahesh Bhupati, and his wife. Seems Mahesh was having a torrid affair with Lara Dutta, which irked the wife no end, and they decided to end their marriage.the judge took just 15 mins to divorce them.

Reminds me of his pal Leander Paes marriage. Sanjay Dutt acted with his Girl friend Mahima Chaudhary, who acted as his wife in the movie Kurukshetra. Paes may have got pissed, and flicked Sanjay;s actual wife Rhea Pillai and made her his wife.Wow !

Took me down memory lane, to a few marriages, corny ones, here is one such case.

One of the ones that I attended , they Boys side arranged the Cocktail party, liquor was flowing, and I and friends entered, Harsha too was there. The liquor was being served from the counter, the boys side known to me and Friends.

I went to the counter, I was handed over a glass of whiskey, Soda, ice, and I mingled with my friends, when one of them, told me what am I drinking ? I said Whiskey, he said let me taste, which he did, and he said, How come u are drinking Scotch ? I said I don’t know, I just asked for Whiskey, and this is what I got. Seemed the other friends got the Indian Brand, and I the Scotch. They were very incenced with this injustice and wanted to create a racket, when I told them, relax guys, I will get the drinks, and pass it on to u, and u give me yr glass to drink. I don’t know why I was chosen for the scotch.

Then there was dinner. Cold Rice, Daal, and one Veggie, which made us puke. Suddenly I see a lady known to me, tugging my shirt, telling me to come inside a small adjacent room. She invited just me , not any of my friends. As I went in, I saw around 5 people, having meat and Rotis, and I was to be the sixth blessed person to have meat. Seems they had made meat for few lucky people.

Now that was very awkward for me to leave my friends to have Dal and Rice, so I politely refused the offer and came out. The friends were very pissed when they heard my version, and they went off at midnight to a roadside Dhaba to have hot food.

I don’t understand this double standards. If u cant afford , don’t serve scotch, who says to serve it, serve Indian whiskey. And meat , how much it would have costed to serve everyone. As it is it was made at home, so 5 or 10 more kilos, how much would have costed ?

Another friend, had his brother’s wedding outstation, and we three friends went to attend it. We were given a room, very far away, and we three were to share the room with a few other guys. And here too there was politics, another common friend was given a 3 star, better one than us.

We recently attended a wedding outstation. On the way we stopped at a Dhabha, to have some tea. Two things I found funny. Here is the pic of the toilet which the ladies did not want to go in at any cost.

PIC - Did not know PEPSI sponsers such toilets.
there was a movie called House of Wax. Pishab Ghar is in English " The house of Urine"

Then there was this Calender that caught my attention.

See what is written, so true, and found on a Roadside Dhabha eh !

It is written by a Person who is dead. Here is what he says

When I was alive no one wanted me to sit besides them
Today they are all sitting on their own around me.

No one ever walked alongside me,
Today they have decorated me, and taken me on their shoulders,

Today I realize that Death is better than Life !

I loved it so much, I clicked the picture. The Owner saw me, I thought he would be annoyed, but he told me, Sir u like this so much , please take one , I asked him how much and took out my wallet, but he was kind enough to give me for free.I have put it in my office.

In my case, I think I am better off alive than Dead, for I receive so much love and attention that I am overwhelmed. I am fortunate to be loved, and called upon by you friends, and family and others, I want to stick around for pretty long, like Khuswant Singh perhaps, making everyone Khush, and in return receive love and affection.

PIC - Radhika leaving back for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />Indonesia, early morning 6 am, she is leaving for the Airport, where I drop her. God bless her.

PIC – Radhika with my ex maid Suman. They are like sisters, grew up together, today Suman has moved away , but our hearts are one.She came to meet Radhika, and they were inseperable, talking and yaking.Suman is not yet married, dosnt want to.

    Pic – Shakuntala from Brindavan.

A very very poor woman, she met Mom and Dad, when they used to go to Brindavan, and she used to clean the ashroom floors. Dad helped her buy a small piece of land and build a small house for her. During Radhika’s wedding we had called her, in 06, to jaipur, when Tuffy was two, and he did not forget her. As soon as he saw her, he wagged his tail, and he loves to be massaged by Shakuntala. What a silly sight, a huge dog lying down and she massaging him.Life is strange eh ! She came down all the way to meet Raddhika,

And how can there be a blog without me appearing in it . So here is me Harsha, and Radhika.

    PIC

Sleeping u guys and gals, I thought so. I will surely charge u someday for using my blogs as sleeping pills. When u have insomania, please read my blogs.HAHA They start with Bhupati, to a Dhaba to a Shakuntala to a Tuffy, even I don’t know where my blogs start, and where they end.

    KAMAL MAHTANI

If u guys have still not slept, then read some corny jokes please.

Wife in Bed with Husband’s Best Friend.
The phone Rings, she picks it up and says
    “ Yes, OK,Fine, Bye !
She turns to her lover and says laughingly
“ He said he is playing Golf with You, and will come a little late !!!

Having a Cold drink on a Hot Day is so Good
But having a Hot Friend on a Cold Day, Don’t u think is better !!!

God Said “ I cant be everywhere, so I created a Mother
Devil – Even I cant be everywhere, so I created a Mother in Law !!!

After the Death of her Husband, the Widow put an ad in the paper as follows

“ thank u all for coming for the Condolences of my Husband.

Rashmi, 32, Fair, height 5 feet 3, No kids !!!

Wife to Husband – Why did u not go to the cremation of your Friend’s Wife ?
Husband – Well this was the third of his wives who have died, and I have attended two funerals, how could I have gone the third time, when I have not invited him even once !

    Kamalji,

While all the pictures look great, I especially love these 2 photos - the one with the three of you on the couch and the one with Shakuntala and Tuffy. Thanks for allowing us the pleasure of putting a face behind the name 'Kamalji'. :)

The 'double standards' at that wedding would have pissed me off too if I were there. But I am glad that you were the 'chosen' one amongst your friends for the scotch and meat. :cheers
Your jokes made me laugh as usual. Thanks for that entertaining post. :thumbsup

    Dear dear Kamalji,

Read your post after a long time and what a pleasure it was!

As a matter of fact, I am the loser for not reading your posts regularly because they are a complete package of entertainment. You always keep us informed on the latest happenings and also give a little insight to it and insider's info! Hmm...true about Sanjay Dutt and Leander Paes. I guess it is a matter of 'do unto others what you would have them do unto you' ?!?...Only, the saying has been a little twisted here..:biglaugh

Those are some weddings that you have attended. How can anyone show such differential treatment and that too, so publicly? Atleast, they don't seem to care what people think about them...right?!!:rotfl

I simply enjoyed viewing the pics of your beautiful daughter, Harsha and ofcourse, yourself!! Don't worry, I will not leave you out.:) Jokes aside, you really are thoughtful and share all your precious moments and thoughts with your extended family IL. I feel I am part of your close knit circle of friends because of these pics and your posts. There is so much elan, frankness and humor in your posts, they are always refreshing.

Not to forget the dose of humor you distribute towards the end of your posts. Those jokes are really hilarious and I was laughing aloud.

All in all, thanks for my morning package of entertainment served in one neat capsule by you.

    L, Kamla

Zindagi ka safar........that is a beautiful poster and so sweet ki the dhabawala gave it to you. Thank you for sharing the photos with all of us and also for your joke collections. Kahan jayenge hum Kamalji if we don't get to read your blogs. It does not matter where it starts and where it ends but most important is ki aapney humarey saath share kiya. Well talking of double standards - why bother isn't it? People are bringing hardship and ill feeling upon themselves by doing all this. Whom are they trying to impress?
