This is Jaya - a trailing spouse newly joined this website. I came across this website several times while doing some online research on life in Doha. After going through some of the active threads, I finally decided to open an account here.

Presently, I'm living in Copenhagen, Denmark and in mid-August I shall be moving with my husband to Doha. In between I shall be spending good amount of time shuttling between Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai before flying to Doha.

To tell us about ourselves a bit :- We are a young open-minded couple and plan to have kids once we settle down a bit in Doha. I'm a south-Indian/Maharashtrian origin while my husband is a Kannadiga. I have been born and brought up in Mumbai and consider myself a "Assal Mumbaikar" and my husband grew up all over India.

1.Why we are moving to Doha? We are moving to Doha because we are sick and tired of the super-cold weather of Denmark - a country where Sun is like a Id Ka Chand. And then came a timely offer for my husband from Doha and we grabbed it.

2.What are my hobbies/interests? Well, I like watching movies (Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Hollywood, Bengali and World Class cinema), Cooking, Nature trail, bowling, reading and ofcourse socialising

3. What am I looking out for here? I'm looking out to socialise and expand my network before landing in Doha. I believe that having a few connections/friendship prior to arrive in a an alien land will help in smooth transition It's a fantastic feeling to get surrounded by your own people. It doesn't matter what language one speak or what religion one follow!

That's all I can think of myself to share here. Looking forward to some wonderful interactions and a possible friendship at a ground level

Welcome to Qatar soon...Qatar is such a cool place (not weather wise, but living wise) according to me...am sure, you would enjoy your stint here.....ILites in Qatar are such a lovely, very socializing and enterprising group and am sure it's going to be soooooooo easy to make friends here fast !!! I wish you happy transition to doha and a good vacation time in India before you reach here!! Keep in touch....

The play house in old airport area. My hubby is in software field. Looking forward to get more friends... I found this forum very very friendly.
