Yes, it helps to get regular periods. May be helps you to loose weight too if you are in the higher side.
Are you over weight by any chance? Any scan or blood test done to ensure PCOS?
    Take care.

If you are under weight, anaemic conditions could be reason to your irregular periods. Have you counted your blood cells? Did you spoke to your doc on this?
Under weight & Metformin won't match i hope! Check it out!

very often, people with PCOD are overweight.I dont think u have PCOD.it may be because of anemia that u have irregular cycle.please take a second opinion.

    Thanks enlighted.
My gynae seems to know nothing. She says i have irregular periods and hair growth.
So, i have PCOS and she put me on Metformin. But no improvement with that too.
    Thanks for your advice

Without blood test and scan, no one can confirm that you have PCOS just by seeing irregular periods and hair growth. Ofcourse, they are the symptoms of PCOS but still it needs to be confirmed.

I am sure any gyanec will know this information. So, I will slightly disagree with your statement when you say your gynaec doesn't know anything.

Either you did not ask any questions to your gynaec or she did not explain you properly.

Did you ask this same question to your Doctor on why she prescribed metformin?

    Sujata,

My blood test and glucose level is normal. She has seen that.
Ya, i did asked her regarding Metformin.

Also, she said bllod test and ultrasound does not rule out PCOS.

    Hi vibhakar,

Trust your doctor, if u are not happy do change the doc.

First and foremost if u are anemic get your RBC count to good level that is above 10, periods will set in automatically.
It is simple if there is no enough blood for your bodily functions how can the body waste the blood every month.
Easiest way 3 dates a day and a cup of pommegranate(whole fruit -not the juice) every other day will make your count become normal.

Also people with PCOD can be underweight too. I have personally seen a couple of cases.

    Good luck ma
