Do You Need Brain Function Supplements?

    Brain function supplements as the name suggest are the supplements containing essential nutrients required for the brain to function normally. In the absence of these indispensable nutrients, brain can behave abnormally resulting in conditions like Autism, Bipolar disorder, memory loss, lack of concentration, anxiety and depression, etc.

    Studies have proven that in most of the cases with neurobehavioral disorder, subjects are deficient in much required DHA omega3 fat. Let us understand why DHA is important for brain and how brain function supplements suffice the deficiency of DHA. You will be surprised to know that more than 30% of human brain is made up of DHA. Even 50% of neuron plasma weight is DHA. This means that if we have low levels of DHA (brain food), our brain will not be healthy, and hence we will be prone to many neurobehavioral disorders.

    Another fact that you should know is that DHA is an essential fat. Word essential means that it is required for the proper growth and development of body but body is not capable of producing it internally. This means that we have to take DHA explicitly through the diet to compensate the deficiency.

    Cold-water fish like hoki, mackerel, salmon, and tuna, etc. are rich source of DHA fat. However, because of increasing pollution in the ocean waters, fish caught from them are also tainted. Consumption of such polluted fish means eating harmful toxins like mercury, lead, arsenic, etc., which could be dangerous of our health.

    Simple and easy option is to have fish oil supplements. Because they contain oil extracted from healthy and oily fish, they are rich in DHA fat. In addition, they undergo various refining methods during their manufacturing process; hence, toxins and harmful chemicals are filtered out from the supplement.

    I just wanted to know if eating a flax seed oil will help us gettingenough dha? Pls clarify... I mean do we get enough omega 3 by eating flax seed oil pill.
