Silk-poly blends are fairly common in the US for formal dresses-the polyester gives a bit of stretch, has a similar sheen to silk, and costs less. For 'formal dress' think prom or homecoming dance gown-something that is meant to be worn once or twice. Not because it is a cheap fabric, but because fashion is ephemeral. My DD has two formal she got from her cousin made from silk-polyester blend. The fabric is slightly lighter in weight than a similar type dress in pure silk (both are a brocade/jamavar style material), and it doesn't hang quite as nicely. But for the price, for a piece that you don't expect to become an heirloom, silk-poly is a good value.

Now, about the sarees- the blue one is about US 36.00 and the other is about US 85.00. Are they finished (peekoed and fall attached)? Does the price include shipping? Blouse piece with or no? Stitched or no? I don't really care for either one (too much of zari for my tastes in a blended fabric), but the prices seem reasonable if the saree is finished and shipping is not to expensive! But remember, things may be shinier in person than in a photo, so be aware that the real thing may not look exactly like the pic on facebook.

No I did not buy, i totally forgot, am also a little hesitant to buy sarees online, and mostly would prefer to buy in person.

    Hi springsnb,

I have seen similar material in an online boutique called blueliliys. They have a price range from Rs600 - Rs1100....so am not sure they are worth for the price mentioned by you....
